Why I believe this Primary will never end
This Primary contest is not about these two candidates. It is about what these two candidates represent... the principles they embody. This contest is far older than the Primary itself and will continue through the General Election and beyond.

The Clinton's brought us Media deregulation. They brought us NAFTA, CAFTA and a "War on the Poor," that was Ronald Reagan's "wet dream." Senator Clinton's voting record on the IWR, the PATRIOT Act, the exportation of cluster bombs and land mines, the identification of Iran's Republican Guard as a "Terrorist Organization," giving Bush a blank check for expanded conflict in the region: ALL of these actions conflict with what she declares she stands for now... WHO REALLY BELIEVES HER?

There is an evil symbiosis between our elected officials and the PACs that fund their campaigns. This symbiosis is evidenced by the contradictions between Senator Clinton's actions and her words. This symbiosis is institutionalized, in the agency of the D.L.C.. This relationship is at the heart of EVERY regressive policy of the United States Government... every covert act of our Defense Establishment... and the perpetuation of extractive, exploitive, neoliberalism by law and execution.

This corruption is at the heart of this battle. It has been since the 50's.

The internet has given us a temporary window of time... to conduct an "end run" around the system of tit for tat, campaign financing and the activities of our elected officials.

This window of opportunity may close with the loss of Net Neutrality. When big media is allowed to "cable-ize" the internet, the lock down may be complete.

Ideological purity is what marginalizes the Green and Libertarian Parties. They are the bleeder valves of the Duopoly... the "whistling tea pots." They cannot form coalitions based upon shared issues, with groups that differ otherwise, ideologically. Their puritanism makes progress impossible.

Senator Obama is not a centrist of the D.L.C. variety, where compromise is a direct function of corruption; having the same campaign paymasters as the G.O.P.. If he is a "Centrist," he is an old school centrist, defined by the willingness to reach out across the political spectrum, to bargain for pragmatic solutions, to facilitate progress.

Senator Obama's "Progressive" values are not enumerated too specifically in his stump speeches. His values are evidenced in his life, his beliefs, his experience, his roots. He embodies a sensible "Progressivism" in his very person.

So, everyone is making projections regarding the Primary race... who will win?... when will HRC drop out? ... what about the "crossovers?"... can she still make it?

You are acting as if Party affiliation still means something... in a day when most informed people find fewer and fewer differences between the Parties. You are acting as if Senator Clinton and the D.L.C., have more loyalty to the Democratic Party than they do to the corporations that keep them in power.

These Corporations are transnational now. They are not "American Interests." They should be considered potentially hostile foreign powers, rather than enjoying "super-citizen" status with unfettered access to our blood and treasure. Their PACs even serve the agenda of MANY foreign governments.

The neoconservatives that hijacked our government in the last seven years, have bet EVERYTHING... they have BET THE FARM.... OUR FARM... on their global adventure for Corporate Dominion. Their vision makes Hitler's Thousand Year Reich look like a college fraternity. They don't give a damn about the Democratic Party or even Conservative principles.

THEY WILL STOP AT NOTHING.

This primary will never end. It's been going on for many decades. The perpetuation, expansion and entrenchment of the oligarchy is their only aim. If America ceased to exist it would not matter to them, as long as THEY were in charge of whatever took her place.

I am an enthusiastic supporter of Senator Barack Obama, but only for one reason...

And it's reason enough.

THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW...

Not THIS time.

1. The DLC is a trojan horse. I have no doubt that they are Republicans who
are very close to destroying the Dem party.

5. Reading assignment -- recommendation really
Edited on Tue May-06-08 01:18 PM by nichomachus
The points above are covered very well in two excellent books.

The first is "Opposing the System," which was written about 12 years ago by Charles Reich (author of The Greening of America.) Reich predicted and explained everything that has happened to us in the past 12 years -- many points of which were enumerated in the OP. The problem was that we were in the midst of the Internet bubble, when everyone was going to be a billionaire by next week. No one read the book. Track it down and read it. It's short and well worth your time.

The second is "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" by Greg Palast. Spot-on analysis. Kind of depressing.

6. The fight between left and right is as old as the party.
Ironically, in this election, it is a fight between one candidate who is perceived to be moderately left against another candidate who is perceived to be moderately right.

In fact, their differences on the issues is minuscule. They're both - by American standards - "moderates".

Neither promise to, or are likely to, pose any threat to the entrenched system.

9. Not true. Hillary could have easily been the leader of this movement.
She chose to oppose that movement, and do everything in her power to thwart it. She honestly thinks that Western civilization would be harmed if we were to face up to the cronyism and corruption in Washington. She believes that it takes someone like her who knows how to exploit the corrupt system, rather than someone like Barrack who wants to empower the people to stand up to the criminals.

I think it's a very distinct difference. Edwards wanted to fight them head on, which probably wouldn't work because they control the courts. How do you beat them when they own the refs? A popular movement seems to be the only rational solution, short of bloodshed. And Hillary is doing all that she can to ridicule an mock all of the serious people who understand this. We are descending rapidly into a state of fascism, in case you haven't noticed, and Hillary doesn't offer any alternative other than to switch despots to a softer, gentler ruler.
