13. Wrong.
She was comparing herself to Mandela in the sense that her punishment pales in comparison to his, not that she's like Mandela from a personal standpoint.

into a career by causing "guilt" among those women who decided to have careers but wanted to keep in touch with their roots.

It's a girl thingy here. Much as I disliked Martha in her heydey, I will defend her against the slime and Repug Lies and misinformation which have been thrown against her.

She's a female victim. And you as a gay rights supporter should understand when I say that the Repugs have no use for either females or gays if they become "uppity."

BTW: :hi: David...good to run into you again.

5. Martha Stewart is a Democrat.
She has contributed generously to Democratic candidates. I think its partly because she is a Democrat that they went after her the way they did, rather than go after Kenny Boy Lay.

11. Senator Allen made me donate to Kerry
I'd already given Kerry quite a bit of money. But when Virginia Sen George Allen voted for the Federal Marriage Amendment I wrote him a letter and told him he'd just inspired me to send another $250 to Kerry.

And my Rep, Tom Davis, voted for the Marriage Protection Act in the House today. I guess I'll cough up a few more bills for Kerry. Northern Virginia is pretty nice, but there sure are a lot of conservative fucktards representing this state in Congress.

I hear ya, lcooksey. We used to live in NoVa, then moved to Richmond
to be closer to family. There are so many conservatives down here, when I see an occasional Kerry sticker, I get excited! You're right about the representatives in Congress, though. At least we have a Democratic governor (unbelievable, huh?).

14. I like Martha
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 09:31 PM by OnionPatch
but I always sort of kept it a secret cause so many people seem to hate her. I love all the cheesy home-decor stuff she does and I admire that she started out making cookies and selling them out of her basement. I liked her even more when I found out she's a Democrat. Her conviction is a token effort to look like they're cracking down on corporate corruption. They sure didn't want to get one of their own guys.

PS Why do you think she's a racist?

35. I never understood why people think she's anti-feminist,
it's not like she FORCES anyone to do the stuff. I admire her perfectionism and I have friends that are good at that stuff and do it because they enjoy it. I wish I could, but if I try to make a Christmas decoration out of pine boughs or something, it looks like a rat made a nest.

If there are any women that actually were to do that stuff out of guilt, than it seems to me like the problem is with THEM, not Martha.

Also, I wouldn't care if they cracked down on her, if they were doing it to everybody, but they singled her out and applied the law unequally. It was just like Clinton, Martha and he were held to a high standard and the rest of the guys are either above the law or held to a completely low standard.

17. I was in a chat room and she said this.
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 09:42 PM by LoZoccolo
<deprave_> this jadakiss rapper fuck has lyrics in one of his song that goes "i hate george bush for detroying them towers"
<Martha> well
<Martha> thats what a lack of education gets ya
<LoZoccolo> How do you know Jadakiss has a lack of education Martha?

(Some names have been changed.)

Also, she once said that her father was doing business with a number of Italians that own a bread factory in Cicero (I'm Italian, Sicilian at that - LoZoccolo is Italian for "the hoof"), and they were in a meeting and someone came in and told them that some member of their family died, and they said they had to go because they had family business, and Martha commented that "family" means more than one thing to Italians. When I called her on it, she didn't apologize, but threw a personal insult at me (though, to her credit, this time it wasn't racial).

So that's why.

20. I don't think that was "really Martha" on that chat room. Somehow I just
don't see Martha "doing chat rooms." It was probably a Repug Plant pretending to be Martha, or a clever, creative, Dem Plant who felt he/she wanted to be "Martha for a Day."

but I don't think she's really a racist. Her father was even a bit of a progressive. I loved that book about Edie Sedgwick he helped Jean Stein write.

You're overreacting. And when was her last film, anyhow?

NO, I'm just kidding. Don't worry, I get ya, but you could've been more clear. Nobody has any idea who the hell you were talking about. And seriously, you decided to call this woman "Martha" and leave it at that? Who'd you think we'd think she was?
