2. Democracy Fest survived two rounds of local officials cancelling it......
and is still going to go on. Lots dropped out after the first venue cancelled on them, even more after the 2nd, but it is still going to go on because of a lot of hard work.

Headlined by Dean, Trippi, and Zephyr.

SNIP..."However, this is more than a reunion of Dean supporters; the participation
of the organization Progressive Vote introduces people to each other that were
previously aligned with other progressive candidates. The organizers hope
that the event will unite progressive-minded individuals and organizations,
motivate others to take ownership for the political process and show people
how to become better adapt at expressing their political views-thus, improving
political discourse in America.

This will all be accomplished through
educational workshops, motivational speakers and inspirational entertainers.

Governor Howard Dean will headline the event and present the keynote
address. In addition, two of the most recognizable members of Dean's
presidential campaign staff -- Joe Trippi and Zephyr Teachout -- will speak on
behalf of their new organizations. Joe Trippi was the former Campaign Manager
for the Dean presidential campaign, founded Change for America, and authored The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.

Zephyr Teachout will speak on behalf of ACT (America Coming Together) for
which she is now the editor of "Blog For Victory." Other speakers include
nationally prominent author and humorist Cathy Bao Bean who wrote The
Chopsticks-Fork Principle: A Memoir and Manual and Massachusetts State Senator
Jarrett Barrios who gained national attention during the gay marriage issue
and was honored as Legislator of the Year by the Massachusetts Senior Action
Council.

Organizers have recruited a number of experts on political and community
organizing to present educational workshops throughout the two-day event. Some
of the nationally recognized organizations spearheaded by Latinos For America
and including African Americans for Democracy, Youth for Democracy, Rapid
Response Network, 21st Century Democrats, and Grassroots for America. The
training topics include: Integrating Issues into Politics, How to Make a
Difference Without Running for Office, Minority and Youth Outreach, the
Electoral College and Voting Integrity.

The line-up is arranged to provide a festive environment, keeping the
event energetic and dynamic. Regional and national musical acts are woven
between speakers to inspire participants. The musicians entertaining use very
different styles to communicate their hopes and concerns for the future. The
diverse lineup includes Stephan Smith, Flying Other Brothers, Extra Virgin
Mary, The Burn Sisters and Chicken McHead. For more information, visit
