CNN sit down, let's talk about Bush's "shifting with the political winds"
l. The 9-11 Commission flip-flop including flip-flopping on extending the work of the 9-11 Commission.

2. "War is my last resort." We know learn Bush began discussing Iraq at his very first National Security Concil meeting--12 days into his administration, thanks to Paul O'Neill's book. Bush pulled out the UN inspectors and rushed to war, thereby abusing the trust of the American people and the world.

3. Bush opposed creating a Department of Homeland Security in March, 2002, and then does a flip-flop three months later on 6/6/02--the very day of FBI agent Colleen Rowley's Congressional testimony--and uses it as a bludgeon in the Congressional elections.

Link is for the Center for American Progress list of 25 Bush flip-flops. The three above are, to me, the worst.

1. As someone mentioned here, Bush did the VERY SAME flip-flop on the $87B...
... that Kerry did! You know, the one they use on the commercial quoting Kerry saying "Actually, I voted for the $87B before I voted against it."

He voted FOR the $87B in a bill that paid for it by repealing some of Bush's tax cuts to the wealthy. Bush campaigned AGAINST, and most (if not all) Repubs voted against this bill.

Then Kerry voted AGAINST the bill that Bush campaigned (and most Repubs voted) FOR... the one that paid for it by borrowing the money.

So Kerry is no more guilty of flip-flopping on the issue than Bush and the Republicans. In fact, there is no real "flip-flop" there at all, since we are talking about two different bills. Which makes Bush's ad a lie.

Bush, on the other hand:
Against Nation-building, then for it.
Against a 9-11 Commission, then for one.
Against a Dept. of Homeland security, then for one.
The list goes on, and on, and on...

Kerry has recently called out Bush on his "war as a last resort" claim. This was on the cover of USA Today a week or so ago (believe it or not).

Keep pushing the flip-flop thing, George. It's already starting to backfire.

2. Bush also threatened to VETO the bill, if half of $18B was in form of loan
Thank you, Brotherjohn, for bringing this one up. It should have been on my list of the biggest flip-flops, as I have also complained about it very recently.

3. Can you or anyone post that list of Bush flip-flops I saw here on DU?
My daughter-in-law wants to show it to her very Conservative parents who have complained about Kerry flip-flops.
