Senator Kennedy is speaking eloquently against the war.
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 07:58 PM by Dancing_Dave
He's speaking for peace to a very warm and supportive audience at the Democratic Convention. And Kennedy's saying that Kerry will bring peace. Well, I hope his fellow Senator from Massachusetts is really listening.

It is truely strange, surreal and ironic that John Kerry, a Vietnam veteran who became a Vietnam Veteran Against the War, should now be set on a course to take us right through another Vietnam. I for one am very glad that Kerry showed he could learn, grow, and "waffle" about Vietnam, instead of stubbornly sticking with a deadly and doomed policy.

Kerry's going to have to change again, and change before November, or he will lose. Right now, his misguided elite advisors have him right on track for creating another Vietnam war by sending even more troops into a doomed occupation in Iraq. The American people will ultimately refuse to pay the cost in blood for that oil. Michael Moore is the one who's totally right about that!

And Kerry can't win as a war canidate anyway. Only Bush could win as the war canidate, the ones who who still support the war are almost religiously devoted to Bush and his attitudes. But now most Americans oppose the war. So Kerry could win as a peace canidate now. But he will have to learn and change and "waffle" a little more, or he will lose as war canidate #2.

This is a continuation of my post with a more sensationalistic title, Kerry isn't Promising to Bring the Troops Home!

1. You're right about Kerry taking us into part 2 of a Vietnam redux. I just
don't understand.

3. So now I ironically see MICHAEL MOORE rootin' for DEAN!
Gee, if Kerry and Edwards could learn just a few key points about what's goin' on from Moore and Dean, we could actually WIN in November!

There's no possible majority that will support Democrats who lead on into another Vietnam. Why do you think President Johnson decided to not even try to get elected again, when could see the way things were going? The occupation of Vietnam was actually more popular in 1968 than the occupation of Iraq is today, but Johnson saw that it was already going downhill so fast that only a Republican with religiously stubborn militant backers could possible win any elections with it.

As I said before, the best thing you can do to support Kerry is go to his speaches with signs that say "No Blood for Oil" and "Bring Our Troops Home." And make sure you get close enough that he can read your signs and GET A CLUE!

4. LOL a new revolution Kerry/Edwards 1776!!! LOL
OMG.

Everybody knows Kerry and Edwards getting elected might bury the GOP for a good long while and kill the modern GOP but I strongly doubt any big policy changes will come from this ticket getting elected. Perhaps it can help us focous on issues instead of "winning" once we see the GOP in disaray and that might help us in the future to select a progressive (if issues are the issue an not some party hiarchy).

On the other hand the GOP could purge itself and regroup more right wing and/or libertarian than ever and further Kerry loosing could get the left really really reved up to set themselves in array in 06,08 and beyond.
