CSPAN2 Showing the Reagan convention speech from 1980 |
|

And in many ways, the things I've been hearing Reagan say are damn close to the things I'm hearing the Deams say in 2004.
Freedom from dependence on foreign oil Restoring reslationships with old friends and allies Creating jobs and building up the economy Criticizing the president for cutting the pay of US servicemen and asking whether we aren't embarrassed by the lack of leadership
I'm wondering if this is intentional, and the Kerry campaign is reaching out to bring back all the Reagan democrats that left in 1980.
(BTW, Babs Bush looked just as scary in 1980 as she does now.)
ON EDIT: CREEEPY. Having grown tired of watching Ronald Reagan on CSPAN2, I switched back to the Democratic convention on CSPAN, only to be greated by Ron Reagan Jr urging me to cast a vote for stem cell research.
I had never thought so, but Ron Jr has his father's style. They have very similar mannerisms. It was very disorrienting. What a strange world, and what an historic election.
