Falwell to give Invocation @ RNC
This is a copy of a e-mail from Soulforce:

Hi friend,
Jerry Falwell just announced at Thomas Road Baptist Church that he would be giving the invocation on opening night at the Republican National Convention in NYC. I was stunned.

What more evidence do we need that IF George Bush is re-elected, he will have no choice but to support Fundamentalist Christian goals for this nation, its courts and its Constitution?!

In his second term, WITH ALL THE OTHER TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES OF HIS RE-ELECTION, Bush could cripple our struggle for civil rights for sexual and gender minorities. We must not let that happen...

1. another polarizing force
Remember Pat Buchanan's vile diatribe at the RNC? I expect this one will be equally disgusting.

8. Let's see if the networks cover it.
If they want to preserve separation of church and state and protect civil rights and human rights, the networks will put this man on full display for the country to see who the republicans cozy up to.

I will tune in for that because I want to see how many people he can offend during a prayer. They will pray for themselves instead of the vulnerable.

4. This says it all
Anyone who thinks Team Bush is not trying to turn this country into a theocracy is wrong. The fact they would have such a lunatic kick things off speaks volumes.

5. Let's hammer on him as hard as the GOP hammers on our speakers

We can't let anyone forget that Falwell blamed 9/11 on gays, lesbians, pagans, feminists, and the ACLU.

9. Teehee!
That's right GOPers trot out your most vile members and put them on display. Let the world see you for what you REALLY are, Go Jerry! Go Jerry! Tell everyone about *ALL* the people you hate! Say one of your rememberable lines such as calling Muhammad a Terrorist, and having Moderate Islamists calling a Jihad on your ass (again)... or how about you placing blame on Gays, Atheists, Pagans, and the ACLU for 9/11! Come on Jerry!

*laughs*

I don't have a clue how the GOP is going to trump the Democratic Convention. We've put out a HUGE positive message. I am betting on Bush's poll numbers FALLING after his convention. (Much like the State of the Union address.)

11. Gotta love it! Just like Pat Buchanan at the 1992 GOP convention.
and to paraphrase Molly Ivins, Falwell would sound better in the original German language (like Hitler).

13. Falwell's closing for the 2004 RNC invocation
"In the name of the True Parents, the Reverend Sun Myung Moon and his darling wife, I pray. Victory for Father for 10,000 years. Amen. Mansei!"

I'm almost willing to bet money on it. Almost.

15. It's 1992 all over again.
The Repubs will show the world just how extreme their agenda is during their convention. Yes, put Falwell, Robertson, and their ilk before a large audience. It will be 92 all over again.

Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 11:29 AM by kwolf68
My only complaint is Falwell isn't giving a prime time speech. We need to get this guy, Pat Robertson, and the rest of these creatures out in the media, prime-time...all the time.

These insane charlatans would virtually gurantee a Kerry win in Novemeber. The more religious quackery the Reps throw at the country THE BETTER.

Bring it on

20. This is great!! Is there anyway the dems can do a little fundraising...
...for his presidential bid in 2008? I mean, look how far Nadar has come on about 1 Million. If we were to get a conservative evangalist into the race, he would pull the far right away from the repubs. Think about it, how could the religious right NOT vote for him...the would burn in hell!

21. Now I have to watch the RNC
I subscribe to Falwell's newsletter too. Reason number one, I like to keep an eye on the enemy; and reason number two I like to forward them around to people and show them the racist, sexist, insane freakazoid that Bush keeps in his bed.

Hell, I'm going to record this. I have a friend who's a yellow dog republican but thinks Falwell should be shot. I want to rub his nose in it and make him acknowledge who he's REALLY voting for.

You go Jerry! Lay some of that old-time religion on us and make us all proud! :)
