I truly feel Oregon is in the bag for Kerry.
Polls show him up 8 or 9 points. My neighbor who voted for Bush now sports a Kerry sign in his yard. Kerry signs are EVERYWHERE in my neighborhood. I don't recall one Gore sign last time (nor Bush either -- there just wasn't the intensity). Kerry bumperstickers are everywhere in Portland; and Portland/Eugene can outvote the rest of the state. I believe they will. Everybody I know fucking HATES Bush. Sure, not surprising for Portland, but I think the turnout will be astronomical amongst progressives and liberals in this state.

Our message to Bush: Go Cheney yourself.

1. agree totally
I knew the Eastern pundits were manufacturing nonsense when they called Oregon "in play" or "leaning Bush". No Bush has EVER won in Oregon (except as VP). Papa lost in 1988 and 1992. George lost in 2000. Oregon has voted DEM 4 straight elections. The only thing that made it close last year was a depressed DEM turnout and a very high Nader %. Neither of those will occur this year. Oregon goes DEM by +5 or 6.

3. We will win- I am seeing a ton of new people every month
at our Washington County Democratic Party meetings.
We have an energized base.

We have to keep it up though.

4. Plus, people on the street are talking about the Convention
I was just down at a Portland food cart and I overheard people raving about Obama's speech, and how he should run for President, etc.

And so many people at my office have been watching the convention closely, and we're all so excited about this election.

5. If you discount the 5.5% voting for Nader last time
Oregon wasn't even close in 2000.

Just don't tell that the the GOP though- let them keep wasting their resources here.

7. Exactly.
I almost wish the polls were a little closer to lure Dumbass's money down the drain.
