bruisers in this forum.

It is supposed to be this way. It is supposed to be a fight. Imagine a democracy without passion, energy, devoted advocacy and a little anger. It would be a tame waste, a farce, a fallacy.

I owe apologies, and I offer them now. But it is supposed to be this way. GD2004 is not the exception. It is the rule, and so it must be, if we are to have the vigorous debate the Founders intended.

Here we go, yo.

9. Nah...
I'd say about 50% idiots and 50% right on.

Look, even among Democrats we're divided. The idiots can join the rest of us and send Bush back to Crawford.

That's the only goal for now.

We can take care of the rest later.

3. Thanks Will
All us Clarkies really gave Edwards and Dean supporters lots of good arguments. But now we're all for Kerry/Edwards and all is forgiven. But it sure made fighting a great learning experience. We were forced to learn/research and think about WHY our candidate was best. We were also forced to listen and learn about other candidates good qualities...something we would have never done without a good debate here on DU. Yes, our discussions were meaningful! Thank God for Democracy and DU! :bounce:

10. Clarkies gave ideas
to Dean and Edwards????

Where were you in 2003????

Dean set the tone and the pace. Edwards was the first to begin copying it.

Then Clark came along and really fucked up his first month of campaigning.

Only after Kerry started co-opting Dean did Clark come aboard sending the same message.

As a result: we got Kerry, not Edwards. Dean self-destructed. Clark never had a chance after his first month.

Edwards is the "JFK" of this generation. Live with it, or get over it: your choice.

Nevertheless, I will vote Kerry/Edwards. If it were Kerry/Gephardt I might have moved to France.

20. Oh dear
I guess we have collapsed any differentiation between ideas and arguments, but nonetheless...

I suppose on some level it is instructive to see who remains disagreeable and who does not.

Onward to the White House!

Clarkies gave ideas to Dean and Edwards????

I didn't see that inferred or implied.

12. We Are a United Democratic Party
There are ideas from each and every candidate and each and every section of the party in the platform and in the campaign. And even though we may disagree on exactly how to get there, I hope there can be no doubt after this week's convention, we are all headed for the same place. One America, with freedom, equality and opportunity for all. HOPE is On The Way!

13. Screw All of You
Nah, I'm just kidding. Even the people I had the bloodiest brawls with were decent folk. It was extremely rare when somebody crossed the line.

And for that, I think we should give thanks to the moderators. I've seen discussion boards implode. It's not pretty. Thanks for keeping us honest, guys.

25. back atcha dude.
I'm on board. That doesn't mean I'm going to quietly sit there waving my bumper sticker. I'm a party guy, sure, but I expect some accountability down the road, and January 2005 is when it starts.

You wouldn't know it to see the news this week, but at least ten more of our kids are dead in Iraq and I expect a lot more will die before Jan. 2005.

What can we do about it?

26. Right on Pitt
I also owe apologizes.

Kerry ran a damn fine race in the primary, that's the reason he is now our nominee.

Any of you can throw in "Oh, the media this, the media that",

"Kerry was the choosen one to begin with", blah, blah, blah

It was a tough primary season and Kerry survived no matter what the circumstances were.

As a Dean supporter, I at times got dirty but that's because I was so passionate about my candidate.

But now with Kerry as our nominee, we must fight like hell again. It's going to get nasty again but this time we our all on the same side and we must do all we can to make sure Kerry survives again.

See you in the White House, Kerry-Edwards.
