CLARK, Albright, Lieberman giving prime time speeches |
|
tonight just before Kerry. Wow, Clark has a fantastic time slot. Nothing can keep me from seeing it! I hope the world is watching!

6. When he walked out, I was thinking, 'There is our next Secretary of |
|
Defense or State'. I would prefer to see him go to DOD. The people in uniform need and deserve an infusion of integrity, common sense and empathy to the top levels of Defense. The American people need to be able to believe the military is not gonna be used as rent-a-cops for greedy corporations who want their will imposed (at the barrel of a gun if need be) upon any nation with resources they desire to exploit.

11. I think Richard Holbrooke has Secretary of State wrapped |
|
up. He and Clark are close but I don't know if Clark would take an assistant Sec. of something and I don't blame him.

22. Clark already has his own consulting firm |
|
So he hardly needs a defense contractor job.
In fact, he's headlining a Nortel conference on communications interoperability down in Columbia SC on Aug 4th.

15. Clark is on the 8:00 time slot. |
|
Albright will be first...Clark 2nd ...Leiberman 3rd....then Kerry.
This will be the night that Kerry's team will reinforces that he is stronger and better on defense and puts to rest the notion Bush is stronger. Defense is the only thing Bush has to run on and when CLARK gets done there will be NO doubt who will make America stronger and safer. Bush will be history and busy throwing up at the ranch.

Will I get flamed if I say I still wish he was VP Candidate ? I really, really like Edwards, but I think Kerry/Clark would have blown Bush/Cheney out of the water. OK, I promise not to say it again.

You won't get flamed from me. As long as you supported Kerry since Clark endorsed him, you were on board before the Edwards people were. A very honorable gesture indeed

18. Oh I supported Kerry since 2002, before he even said he was |
|
going to run for sure. He has always been my choice for the top spot. I knew I wanted Clark for VP as soon as he came on the scene. I had the pleasure of seeing Kerry and Clark in Madison on Feb 13 when Clark endorsed Kerry. Got to talk to both of them and I really thought Kerry would pick Clark.

21. Max IS primetime...the 1 hour that the networks will be on.... |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 11:32 AM by Gloria
Clark et al are in the hour BEFORE the Kerry speech hour....so, it's not "network" primetime... only cable primetime.
I was hoping Clark would be on and introduce Cleland....but it's not happening. I wish Lieberman was buried at the beginning instead of the end of the hour....
Biden was also listed yesterday for this hour....haven't check back since, though.
The Kerry hour involves Cleland, Kerry's daughters, and then Kerry.

13. Why Lieberman?? What the hell? |
|
Replace him with Feingold!
Lieberman is totally out of place there. Not ONE single person I talked to during the primaries supported Lieberman. Everyone speaks of him with disdain. He's a black spot on the Dem party.

19. The reason why Lieberman is speaking is obvious . . . |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 11:19 AM by dolstein
Lieberman is Exhibit A in the case Democrats are making that you can be a person of faith, a person who believes in a strong military, and still be a Democrat. Time and time again, the Republicans tell voters that the Democratic Party is the party of godless pacifists. Lieberman is an effective rebuttal to that assertion.
Of course, I realize why the prospect of Lieberman speaking at the convention is so upsetting to many DU'ers. These are the people who go around saying that Lieberman is no different than Zell Miller. Now any person in their right mind would know this is a flat-out lie. Lieberman's voting record is nothing like Miller's. But apparently some people need to be reminded of this. So Lieberman singing Kerry's praises will offer a stark contrast to Zell Miller, who will be speaking at the Republican convention.

20. well theres also the fact that they've let all the former candiates speak |
|
Not in agreement with Joe on some but he was a candiate and its only fair he can speak. You are right though Lieberman is different from Miller, Lieberman is supporting the ticket and Miller is being cochair of democrats for Bush. There's actually been speakers who are more conservative than Joe who have spoke, Ike Shelton and Jim Turner spoke already and these guys are both blue dog democrats.
