I had to include this video, which has absolutely nothing to do with the OP

Bill Clinton Loses It in West Virginia - Video - Screaming at Questioner

Bill Clinton to W. Va: Obama's Voters Think They Are Better Than "Us"

Absolutely stunning in its hypocrisy. On the stump in W. Va., former President Bill Clinton said the following:

"The great divide in this country is not by race or even income, it's by those who think they are better than everyone else and think they should play by a different set of rules," he said in Clarksburg. "In West Virginia and Arkansas, we know that when we see it."

Clinton said his wife's primary challenger has "got so much money and it's a different electorate. It's a little more upscale and modern ... than those poor people in Texas and Ohio." In Clarksburg, Clinton contrasted his wife's appeal to working-class people with the elitists he says support Obama. He made the same comparison two months when he last campaigned in West Virginia, calling his wife's critics in the party "glitterati" and "elites."

Exactly WHO is playing by a different set of rules, President Clinton? Take a look in the mirror and those ever-changing rules, standards and goalposts. Who loaned their campaign 11.4 million in spare change and who is "elite"? And exactly what about the "poor people" in Tx and Ohio?

Hillary, her appearances under close scrutiny at present, does not seem to be overtly pushing the "us v them" theme (except in her unfortunate "I get the white vote" statement) as much as her husband, who is stumping in small, rural communities across W. Va and appealing to the Appalachian heritage. I do not say this in a discriminatory way, as I live in Appalachia and come from a family strongly rooted in this heritage. It is, however, a different mindset - one they are taking advantage of and exploiting. This tactic does nothing but further the racial and economic divides in this country and blatantly plays to ignorance.

Us v. Them

Clinton shows strength in Appalachia

Gaining support of working-class whites remains Obama’s challenge

By Bill Byrd
Times West Virginian

The “largely working class Democrats of central Appalachia have a long history of empathy for unions, cultural conservatism (including patriotism, loyalty, fairness and concern for security) and economic issues facing families.”

“In that regard, the Clintons — and one can not separate the appeal of Bill from that of Hillary — represent familiar cultural values,” he said.

“The Clintons have also been better than Obama in identifying with the ‘us vs. them’ perspective of class that is a very powerful value in Appalachia.”

A SAMPLE OF CLINTON COVERAGE IN W VA

RIPLEY — Former President Bill Clinton will stop in Ripley tonight to campaign for his wife and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

The “Solutions for America” event, featuring Bill Clinton, will take place at 7:30 p.m. today at the Ripley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station at 337 West Main St., said Jessica Santillo, West Virginia communications director for the Clinton campaign. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, Santillo said.

Ripley is the final stop today for Bill Clinton, who will also make West Virginia appearances in Madison, Williamson, Wayne and St. Albans.

Clinton made campaign stops in Fayetteville, Fairlea and Athens on Thursday as the Democratic presidential candidates worked toward the West Virginia primary on Tuesday. Before arriving in Jackson County tonight, Clinton is scheduled to stop in Madison at 10 a.m., 12:15 p.m. in Williamson, 3 p.m. in Wayne and 5:30 p.m. in St. Albans.

Meanwhile, several hundred West Virginians waited more than an hour Thursday to urge Hillary Clinton to continue her Democratic presidential bid. Driven inside by rain, supporters packed the state Capitol’s Rotunda to see the New York senator during her three-state blitz in the waning weeks of the primary season. Gary Johngrass drove up from Lincoln County to join the rally. The Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War cited two botched knee surgeries at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals among his reasons for supporting Clinton.

‘‘It’s mainly been because of her support for the VA, and for getting more benefits for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans,’’ said Johngrass, 57. ‘‘They’re going to need help as they start coming back home.’’ Her arrival delayed by more than an hour, the former first lady touted her energy proposals during her half-hour speech. She also promised the crowd that their state’s leading export, coal, ‘‘is not going anywhere’’ when it comes to future U.S. policy.

Clinton is expected to fare well in West Virginia’s primary on Tuesday. She has consistently outperformed Barack Obama among white, older and working-class voters in competitive primaries. With the nation’s third-highest percentage of seniors, West Virginia’s median family income is roughly $12,500 below the national median of about $58,000.

Obama is planning to return to West Virginia, though his campaign said Thursday that the details of his visit were still being worked out. He last visited the state in March.

They are not finished - not by a long shot. Although they are becoming noticeably more shrill and desperate.

uppity n word in there somewhere? Wow, I thought I did. From what Bill said:

"The great divide in this country is not by race or even income, it's by those who think they are better than everyone else and think they should play by a different set of rules," he said in Clarksburg. "In West Virginia and Arkansas, we know that when we see it."

Now Hillary thinks those rules shouldn't apply to her because she's better than everyone else.

1. FL & MI ( I know dead horse)
2. 2270 is the winning # not 2025
3. "If we had republican rules, I would have won already." HRC
4. "Barack Obama played the race card on me, ...I shouldn't have to take that shit!" B.C.
5. "Whites vote for me, I have a wider base" HRC
6. "Pleged delagates can change their mind" HRC
7. "I have the popular vote"...if you count FL & MI and take away all the states Obama won HRC
8. "Only the states I've won count" HRC

Hmmm Shame when the "Stated rules" are considered the "different set of rules"

It will be alright.
If Obama or his camp attempt to put her out that will not go well for Him.

He is doing the right thing campaigning for the GE

I am actually beginning to feel sorry for the old horse. let her run a few more laps before she is set out in the political pasture.

89. Clintons have gotten WORSE with their bigot-pandering...
I think Obama is handling it well, letting her piss in her own soup pot. Without opposition, she will spiral into full-fledged KKK rhetoric. And maybe that will be what it takes for her diehard supportrs to finally say "enough with the bigotry."

121. It's too late for her "to bow out gracefully." And there has never been anything gracious,
either, about Hillary or Bill.

They believe more in revenge than redemption.

They believe more in mocking than in mending.

They have become, in my eyes, very much like KKKarl Rove.

As long as Obama stays away from her, and the situation, then it's a positive for him.

194. I heard someone suggest...
That she's the October surprise. Her and Bill run as "Independents" ala Lieberman, which means they need to tear away as much support as they can now. That's in addition to the "f*ck up Obama so he loses so I can run again in 2012" scenario.

Whatever it is it's gonna blow up in her face. Unfortunately that means the party might just wind up collateral damage in the explosion.

Born & raised Texan, and I was taught at my first job (telemarketer) to speak without an accent, cause it might turn off potential customers. Ever since then, I have used the "phone voice" when in professional settings, and revert to my normal way of speaking in more casual settings.

I don't forget grammar though. Well... not too much. I do say "ain't". :P

So... maybe it's a natural thing.

Still... can you imagine how much the incessant whining would increase if Obama or his wife consistently insulted Hillary's supporters like this?

What a different race that would have made in 2000.

Bill Clinton is officially Full of Shit, for now and all time. Please, someone put him out to pasture with the other horses that are over the hill and past any usefulness. Let him roam, eat grass, and produce manure, because that's what he's good at.

131. Yes.
That is exactly what I thought at the time.

Of course I was an Al Gore supporter long before it was cool, and always thought "slick Willie" seemed apt. (Kinda like in PA we call Rendell "Fast Eddie" and many Dems chuckle at that cuz they know it's on the mark.)

To be honest though, I did respect Bill for hanging tough. Although I wasn't sure it was the best for the country, but I didn't expect Al Gore to ever lose the 2000 election. (of course, he didn't, but that's another discussion)

154. What we see of Bill is the real Bill
Read his memoir (if you can get through it) -- do you know why he had the relationship with Monica while president, why he got that blow job in the oval office? "Because he could" - the hell to respecting his wife, his family, the office, the party or the nation.

I know folks hate it when I bring it up, but Bill was no saint as president (besides the blatant lies and philandering).

The no-bid contracts awarded to Halliburton in Bosnia and Kosovo set the precedence for like no-bid contracts in Iraq and the US.

The extraordinary renditions, he began those.

The "no fly zones" over Iraq, he continued Poppy Bush's policy to use our military to enforce them even though were illegal, not mandated by the cease fire resolutions and the UN even considered them illegal.

So much more, the point is, what you are seeing is the true bill - he just can't believe folks don't worship him as they once did and now this new guy, offers hope and change and steals his thunder.

The clintons have not been good for the party or the nation.

176. You are talking about "My Life"? I couldn't get through it because...
...he had this theory to explain why he did what he did. I don't remember it exactly but I think it had to do with "I did it because I could" and something in his childhood where he was making up alternate realities or so...

And that was supposed to be the explanation for his adult behaviour.

As I said, I don't remember exactly how the theory went but I DO remember thinking how fabricated that whole thing seemed to me.
Couldn't make it past the first third and never touched the book again.

And now I can't even sell it anymore, who is gonna buy it? ;)

I don't think he was some sort of raving lunatic in the video. He was obviously annoyed that she interrupted him and was defensive of Hillary, but not screaming or raving.

The second issue is different. He's not doing his wife any favors by insulting the tens of millions of Obama supporters. I stated that in my comments on that page. However I still feel that each candidate needs the other's supporters in order to be successful in the GE campaign.

What will it take to get it through his head? It infuriates me to no end that he doesn't understand he's making people who support HER recoil in disgust. I'm beginning to wonder if deep down inside Bill doesn't have a misogynist problem of not wanting to see her become President. It makes no sense to me. I really wish, for her sake, we could turn the clock back and yank him off the stage so we could see how well she'd do without his help.

As an Obama supporter, I take no joy in any of this. I'd rather we had a 100% win on the issues instead of having an advantage because of Bill's nonesense. It's bothering me too as a woman to see her own husband hurting her cause.

... and how it affected his behavior--which I'm very, very sorry to read about, because it must be absolutely heartbreaking for a spouse's personality to change like that.

She's aware of what caused the personality change, though. Maybe Hillary isn't--maybe she still thinks of him as the political whiz kid he used to be, and assumes that whatever he's doing on the campaign trail is actually good for her, in some way. I can understand how it'd be difficult for her to face the fact that he's hurting her, even though it presumably isn't deliberate.

I can't imagine why her advisers haven't told him to sit down and stop talking.

to derail Obama. Two things you can say about the Clintons: (1) They're always there when they need you, and (2) they're always planning four years ahead. I don't believe Obama would let her on the ticket. Her high negatives would draw out a wide range of voters to supportthe GOP ticket, and also she/Bill would love to do anything they can to keep Obama out of the White House so she could run again.

She already has motive (wanting to run again) - why give her opportunity?

40. :( Please Bill. You're not helping her
I want Obama to win badly but I'm very sorry for your wife that she didn't listen to early advice not to let you campaign for her.

"In West Virginia and Arkansas, we know that when we see it."?

"Next thing I know, we’ll have an ad saying, ‘You gotta vote for me for president, I don’t steal cars.’ "

I never loved you Bill but today you broke my heart. Out where I am, we know racism when we see it.

K Gardner, I don't know about you but my sanity can't take this anymore. For the first time since this race began, the Clintons have succeeded in making me cry. Not for me but for them. In a desperate attempt to salvage something and not go down in history books without a win, they're destroying their own legacy. Is there no one close and trusted enough to advise them?

Yesterday a news commentator made a comment that by the time we get to Kentucky, we may hear "Segregation Now, Segregation Forever" from the Clinton campaign. I laughed yesterday but that was before I saw this comment.

You know the old Smith's song "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore"? It's not Bill. Please stop it. You're hurting your wife's campaign, destroying your own legacy and hurting a lot of people who still want to believe you're better than that.

I'd done with you Bill. And I'm not going to fight with some good people you put in a very bad spot anymore.

I'd done with you Bill.

51. Unbelievable. Still slinging it. Classic BUSHISM from Clinton.

Um, Obama's donations are mostly from the general public unlike Clinton's corporate donors. B.Clinton is so wrong on this it's not even funny. He's clearing lying to the people, and counting on their being uninformed so they'll just buy the lies. Perhaps they would be Obama's demo too if he just lied to them like this.

This is Bushism/Rovian Speak at its best. They are outdoing Bushco now.

I'm sitting down this evening and composing a polite but straight-forward letter to him. I've HAD IT with being put down by the Clintons. Umm, no. That's not accurate, Ms. Cuckoobananas. Sure the Clintons (like every Democratic administration that's tried since FDR), didn't pass a national health care program, but they certainly didn't "do nothing." That's fucking absurd. I'd be pissed too.

Goldman-Sachs, the world's largest investment bank and private equity firm.

Citigroup, the financial services group that is the largest company in the world in terms of assets (over two Trillion under management.)

Morgan Stanley, a major investment bank and financial services company operating in dozens of countries with assets of 750 Billion USD under management.

Why, the Clintons is jes plain folks and would never hobnob with ELITES or elitists who pursue their own narrow interests by buyin' off politicians. The contrast with Barack Obama, that terrible terrible ELITIST, could not be clear. You might even say it's black and white.

Being a realist I recognize that money will play a part - but shouldn't that money at least be raised from your supporters, and shouldn't it be the case that if you can't manage to get that kind of financial support from the people, you shouldn't be able to just bankroll yourself?

Do you people hear yourselves? Hillary tried to push health care through, she was given the mandate, she was not pres. or vice president, but she tried...this woman was criticizing Hillary for the fact the health plan failed, yes it failed, but she fought, against the republicans and the insurance companies. Hillary worked hard on this, even Bob Dole said she did - but you obamaniacs keep it up. Forget the prosperity we had under Bill Clinton. You loved him then, right, you voted for him, this fraud barry has you all brainwashed, you can not even give Bill credit for anything now. You are worse than the republicans = listen to you! Your feet must be killing you from all the shots you're giving yourselves.

So you cocky, big-mouthed people think barack is going to get in there and it's going to be a cake walk?? YOur going to see the changes he's promising? But he won't get in there, 'cause you lost us. HIllary is practically out and your still slamming the Clintons and her supporters.

You can't give him a break, and your democrats. He is defending his wife, she fought for it, and she fought hard. Do you remember how the rethugs slammed her and villified her after it failed? YOur doing the same thing to her now, how sad for all of you and the country.

167. The prolbem in the 90s was that Clinton was in bed with big insurers, not fighting them
Her plan was developed in secret with no public input, just the largest companies that would split managed care markets among themselves. Naturally, smaller insurers were furious and mounted the Harry and Louise slanders. Then what? Did the big boys then stand up for the plan that they had helped to create? Hell NO--they just let Clinton twist in the wind. And because she refused to organize a public constituency (which would have been hard because most potential members favored single payer), there was no one else to back her up either.

She seems to have learned the wrong lesson from 1994. The insurance companies are Lucy, she's Charlie Brown, and our health care is the football. And yes, they damned well will yank it away again.

She's going thought the family fortunes like a spouse with a gambling addiction, dragging their

They're flying in separate private jets now, and Bill is one of the celebrity guests slated to attend

Please, please think before you speak. What is wrong with this man? The man who once brought hope in 1992 to a beleagured nation, tired of Reagan and Bush and ready for a change? He sounds like a bigoted racist. I don't think he is, he is just acting like one because he is desperate. Bill, its over. Hill has to try to get the VP spot or move on. Tearing Obama down will not help Hillary in 2012. It will not help the Dem party at all.

183. Bill's take-home message for, uh, November
Bill knows full well that Hillary isn't going to get the nomination. So now he's looking ahead to 2012. Oh, and by the way, Obama needs to lose the general election to pave the way for Hillary II. What better strategy than to sow the seeds of doubt and dissention in the minds of voters now, so that they take full hold between now and November! Playing to the prejudices of socially conservative and less-educated white voters has been a part of the GOP's divide-and-conquer strategy all along. But it's not just for Republicans anymore! It's ironic that Bill retained a lot from his prior association with Dick Morris. Even though Morris can't stomach Hillary, his methodology of conservative posturing appears to be in full swing at the moment.

185. Postperfusion Syndrome aka "Pumphead"
http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_dave_lin_080428_invasion_of_the_pump.htm
Is America at the mercy of an invasion of the pumpheads?

The bizarre behavior of Bill Clinton during this campaign season, which has seen this once smooth-talking and politically uber-sophisticated campaigner repeatedly stick a foot in his mouth and undermine his wife’s struggling campaign, raises the issue of whether he is suffering from postperfusion syndrome—a now recognized cognitive impairment common in patients who have undergone heart bypass surgery.

Referred to in hospital jargon as “pumphead syndrome,” the condition, thought to be caused by debris and bubbles that are created and released into the bloodstream by artificial pumps used to circulate blood while hearts are being operated on—material that can block blood flow in smaller vessels in the brain, causing neurological damage--this recognized condition has been demonstrated in some studies to lead to significant cognitive impairment that can show up in as many as 42 percent of heart surgery patients even as long as five years after surgery.

190. This post is swamped with burned toast

The Obama supporters seem to think the white house is now theirs.Odd it is when elitist is mentioned Nixon politics comes right in. That kind of sucks doesn't it? It blows in that the great divide uses that one against the other.
And with all those short memories and no memory behind it ,it just gets worse. At the same time if you don;t face it ,than it remains buried.Or huckelberried.

Funny it is that short memories don't remember that republican swing voters are crucial to winning the white house and more seats. But with all these elitist around here that seem to think they are better that working folk that get their hands dirty at work -,you all don't need no republican swing votes because you all got it all down by yourselves!

I suppose if nothing else you all can at least start change! Start change, where did that one come from!

189. The Clinton CringeFest is getting worse. Nobody has a rein on Bill and Hill is spinning out in her
own orbit. They're both desperate. Losing lots of good will. Give it all a rest, both of you. Go home and get some sleep.

191. This is such BULLSHIT!!!!

The mass majority of Obama's campaign contributions come from relatively small donations, while most of Clinton's come from special interest groups and big donors. Clinton is continually trying to run on Obama's cred...
