I went through two weeks of his postings (daily back then) and counted the number of articles, emails and personal statements he posted that were pro-Dem/anti-GOP versus those that were anti-Dem.

On not one day during the general election did Bartcop manage to print more pro-Dem/anti-GOP items than anti-Dem ones. The best he did was an exact tie on a couple of days. On the rest his blog was more opposed to Democrats than Republics.

I had been a regular reader, occasional contributor, for years before that. I and many others tried like hell to point out what he was doing. He refused to see it. I have never known him to like a Democrat not surnamed Clinton.

And I stopped paying attention in 2004. I pop in every couple of months or so to see if he has come to his senses. But I never see it.

He will spend this entire general election repeating every rightwing attack on Obama ad nauseum claiming he "wants to wake up the Democrats to how stupid we have been".

Don't know where you are from. I live in Chicago, but originated from southern Indiana. When I get down there for a visit and watch the local news it is about what I imagine it must have been in Stalinist Russia. 2000 was just horrible. I went down there during one of GW's biggest gaffes (don't recall what it was now, I just know he took a tumble in the polls for a bit).

All the local papers, radios and TVs had was "Gore the serial liar". It was on the national news, of course. But nary a peep in anything local. And very few people actually watch CNN or MSNBC. So they mostly get half an hour of national broadcast news (minus 10 minutes of commercials). Everything else is local. So when I tried talking about this huge gaffe the general response was, "oh, I think I saw a blurb about that on the national news, but did you hear about Gore's latest big lie? That is all the media is talking about!".

And when you had (pre-50-State Strategy) local Democrats echoing the Republics because, well, they had no support *from* the national party, so why the fuck should they give support *to* the national party. They sure as heck couldn't fight the local propaganda I illustrate above all by themselves.

Man, this was one seriously fucked party. I understand Clinton's supporter's ignorance of just how bad it was. They are, as they have bragged time and again, concentrated in the Big Blue states where things aren't so fucked up. They have no idea that we are fighting for the very continued existence of the Democratic Party here.

Actually, if I were a "radical" liberal, I suppose I'd be out there pulling for Hillary. She could do what Nadar and the Greens can not: finally destroy the Democratic Party once and for all creating room for the Green Party.

Whether she did it intentionally or just let her mouth run away without consulting her brain she did it. Now she's going to have to deal with it. Part of the reason this is going to go so badly for her is not just because she said something remarkably stupid and damaging... but because of WHEN she said it. The entire political world just finished deciding she was effectively finished and that if she stayed in and continued campaigning it had better be with care and tact against the presumptive nominee of her own party, and then she pulls this out of her hat.
