Has anyone in your "real life" actually watched the speech?
I've spoken with 5 people, 2 of whom are Democrats, and nobody watched it last night.

We need to talk about it, get the word out, and get the link out: http://www.dems2004.org/site/apps/nl/content3.asp?c=luI2LaPYG&b=125934&ct=158807

1. Yes - four people who work near me have.
We've been talking about it quietly in our mostly RW workplace all day.

2. I work with many smart people
we all saw it! Topic of conversation all week. It's been great.

For those who didn't bother, I hope they plan on watching the debates.

6. Three republicans and a dem...this is a good omen, IMO,
that these three Texas republicans actually watched the acceptance speech, let alone didn't have anything negative to say about it.

Because there's only one way I'll watch the republican convention...

7. I did.
And although I'm here at DU, I'm not typically an "activist". But I sat riveted. And found myself logging on at MIDNIGHT to tell people about it.

Heck, I stayed glued to the screen long enough to see Al Sharpton holding up the handmade "Boot Bush!" sign. I guess they figured everyone who mattered had gone to bed already... ;-)

8. Almost everyone at my job
We have quite a little group of Dems here. Pretty much everyone watched it and thought it was great.

11. 1 coworker, most of my siblings and their college-age kids
People are pretty politically apathetic in my area, just pull the "R" lever (when they bother to show up at all) and go on about their lives... Which is incredibly sad.

13. No such luck
None of the sheeple I work with watched even the one-hour-per-night broadcast coverage! They won't see F/911. They don't read anything except the local reactionary rag. It's awful.

15. Watching
There were about 35 of us at the Democratic Headquarters who watched the speech. Earlier in the day we stood out on a busy corner with Kerry and Feingold signs and signs telling people to watch the convention. We returned to headquarters for a conference call from John Edwards. We then had pizza and watched the entire evening of the convention. Had a great time cheering all the punch lines. Sure was fun watching with those who have the same political ideas I do. Got a call from a friend in CA. Told me she watched Kerry's speech and loved it.

16. It scares me how many people don't make themselves aware
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 09:22 PM by Kipepeo
Everyone in my office did, but that's because we're a pretty small and pretty political workplace.

My conservative republican dad in the south did and he said it was a great speech.

None of my friends watched any of it, and they are all Democrats....probably a little more political than average. None of the rest of my family (other than my dad) watched. Sad.
