Howard Fineman converted??
Fineman used to be one of the biggest Bush whores on TV, but I think he may have seen the light. He actually got mad at Joe scarborough for trying to diminish Kerry's speech:

"We're sitting here on the "Hardball" set and I got a little hot under the collar when Joe Scarborough presumed to give us all a lecture about the "reality" of the Kerry speech. Joe said it was a blown chance because it was too rushed. I think that Kerry, if he didn't hit a home run, hit a solid double up the gap or even a triple and put himself in scoring position. ... Kerry went a long way to at least being able to stand toe to toe with George Bush on defense and foreign policy. He was tough, presidential and every bit the swift-boat guy."

Has he changed his tune??

3. Howie the Whore is just matching the situation.
He was rather Democrat freindly on Al Franken's show last month. If Kerry gets in, Howie will be an ass kisser just so that he can get "prefered" access to the Kerry White House.

5. Last night at our Kerry watching party I went to the basement to
see which station that group was watching. When I walked into the room, Joe Scarface was on making a snide remark. I turned around immediately and went back upstairs to C-Span.

6. I find it amazing he admits
the need to apologize to Al Sharpton. While I was watching Fineman, Kearns Goodwin, and Matthews go apeshit on Sharpton I wondered if any of them would be forced to watch the tape of their sorry performances. Maybe Fineman did. He came off as an ass and he obviosuly knows it. I have never cared too much for Sharpton, but he said what needed to be said and I loved every minute of it. Fineman owes the viewers an apology. He insulted a lot of people.

9. Long Time DU'ers don't call him Howard "Slimeman" for nothing! He
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 11:49 PM by KoKo01
slimes his way through every performance on Hardball and his MSNBC articles are masters of distortion. He's on Tweeties (Chris Matthews) show for a reason. The two of them are a pair who stick their finger in the wind and match how it blows...mostly it blows Repug for those two, but occasionally when it's an extremely good day for the Dems and they start sweating that they might be out of a job, they throw some meat the Dems way. The rest of the time they "slime or whore" depending on the situation.

Howard Fineman is an excellent example. He sucks you in on one column per month, but if you parse it carefully you will see that it's always a "backhanded" compliment of a Dem when he decides slither up to us.

8. My impression is that Howard Fineman realizes that Kerry is
honest and the Bush Administration is crooked.

Fineman called Kerry a "mensh" on "The Al Franken Show" (yiddish for honest person) and while Fineman didn't say unlike the people in the Bush Administration, I don't think he would have bothered to say that if he didn't detect a contrast.

12. I heard that. I think he got angry at Scarborough for being
arrogant about presuming to tell newspeople about something that only a former Congressman would know. Fineman made some sort of comment like that. I think Scarborough was saying something to the effect of "you guys don't understand political speeches, etc." because Scarborough used to be in Congress. That's what got Fineman angry. Scarborough looked surprised that Fineman was angry.

13. Fineman also stood up for Elizabeth Edwards against Don Imus.
A few weeks ago Imus was making some ugly comments about Elizabeth's weight. Fineman was on the phone being interviewed by Imus. Fineman didn't let him get away with it. Instead of joining in and laughing at Imus' joke, he said somberly that the Edwards had lost a child some time back, so, uh, they've through a lot, esp. Elizabeth, etc. Imus stood corrected, became serious, and didn't say anything further about that.

BUT someone on the Imus show made ANOTHER crack to a phone interviewee this week about Elizabeth's weight. I forget the interviewee's name....good lookin' guy with dark hair who was at the convention. I think he was a politician, not media. Anyway, he too corrected the Imus people by saying, "I think I just heard you say that Elizabeth Edwards is a beautiful woman, right?" (when of course they had said the opposite). They all just went "ahem," and didn't pursue that further.
