The DNC was way more entertaining than most crap on TV
At least a lot of people tuned into Kerry's great speech on Thursday night. I hate the way people like Letterman, Leno, and Stewart keep propagating this belief that these conventions are boring. We just witnessed three of the greatest political speeches in modern memory in Clinton, Obama, and Kerry. Just hearing ONE of those men would be enough to ignite political interest once again, but noooooo... They'd rather watch "The Simple Life" or "Survivor: Who Gives a Damn?", which are not even reality shows but a cheap ploy to rid the industry of hard-working writers and creative minds that brought TV gems like Seinfeld and Frasier.

I was glued to the screen on all four nights of the DNC, and I plan to watch the RNC as well. There's nothing boring about these conventions. Some people are turned off by the lack of Survivor-style vote off that used to be the highlight of conventions. I wasn't born to experience those days, so the DNC of 2004's all I've got. Hearing inspiring speeches by heroes like Clinton, Obama, Sharpton, and Kerry are plenty enough for me.

PS The only shows are watch-worthy (IMHO): Seinfeld, King of the Hill, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Frasier, and Even Stevens. Oh yeah, and Crossfire.

1. I enjoyed the convention

but I'm a political junky. The speeches by those you mentioned were great.

I still haven't decided if I can watch the RNC. I think the Bush ass kissing fest will really, physically make me sick. :puke:

2. I loved the convention
When I got home last night I was missing it. Seeing all those great people, including the crowds in the stands was the best TV I've seen in years, not counting the Daily Show.

3. When Letterman had Buff tell "the old guy" to shut up, noone here laughed
I think it's dishonorable to make fun of our political system like that. I think the older talk show hosts that are no longer on TV, had it right on this.

4. I agree
I can't believe how the talking heads were bitching about how scripted it was. What else did they expect from such an extravaganza?

I wish I could have been there myself. It looked like a lot of fun.
