1. Not a bad choice
But I'd rather see more of an academic, somebody who would have far less of a military mindset, especially somebody who spoke more than one language, somebody who had actually spent time overseas (war don't count) and gotten to know another culutre on its own terms.

Shoot, I think I'm describing Kerry's wife...

2. If Kerry is elected, I've been wondering what post Cleland would get.
My thoughts are with Secretary of State.

4. Had that post during the Carter Admin.
Something higher profile would be nice. Not sure what just yet.

5. Technically,
Cleland was administrator of the Veterans' Administration during the Carter Administration. Veterans' Affairs did not become a cabinet level position until March 15, 1989, under a bill signed in 1988 by Reagan.

I don't mean to be picky but Cleland's position in the Carter Administration was not a cabinet level position.

7. Cleland was Sec. of State of Georgia from 1982-1996
Seems like an honest mistake to me.

9. Wesley Clark would be a good Secretary of State
given his overseas experience and existing contacts among the high mucky-mucks of the world.

Max Cleland is a great guy, but I think he'd be better as Secretary of Defense.
