These are Dean Dozen
Missouri State House - Maria Chappelle-Nadal (won her primary)
US Senate - Nancy Farmer (won her primary)
US House - Jeff Smith (did an amazing awesome job against the name recognition of Carnahan...very very close) Sad he lost but he made a difference.
State House - Vicki Walker (came close)
Dean always said they would not all win, but look how Jeff did against a prominent Missouri name...it is amazing in itself.

1. Yes, Jeff did very well... |
|
...there are Jeff Smith signs all up and down my street still. But then again, my street is like a Utopia ;) Now, the streets that run perpendicular to mine, can't vouch for them, though I've seen a couple Kerry stickers, a Vote No on No2, and the only Gephardt sticker I'd ever seen...
Almost thought he'd win. But then again, at one point, Stoll <sp> was ahead when Festus started rolling in. All in all, a pretty strong showing for Deanies in MO.

Holden, the incumbent Democrat, lost his gubernatorial primary to State Auditor Claire McCaskill. I'd heard that Holden wasn't very popular, and that McCaskill might have a better chance against Republican Matt Blunt. With the name recognition of Blunt, it will be a challenge.
On to the Dean candidates. Even though the Dean candidate lost in the 3rd, the district looks safe to be held by the Dems. I don't think that CD's gone Republican since the late '40's.

3. I'm not disappointed with Russ Carnahan |
|
But I am in the 1st District so my opinion makes little difference -- I didn't get to vote for either.
I was almost "clostheslined" by Russ Carnahan at a Provote metting in Jun of 2001. He gave a presenation after lunch, which I returned late from. To get to my chair, I had to walk behind him. Just as I approached,he didn;t see me and swung his arms out to make a point.
The long and short of it -- I get to tell people I was nearly decked by a U.S. Congressman (assuming he wins, and he will)
