BofA chairman backs Kerry (Bloomberg News)
Very interesting!

204 executives support Democrat

LAURENCE ARNOLD
Bloomberg News

Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry released Wednesday a list of 204 executives who endorse his economic policies, including Bank of America Corp. Chairman Chad Gifford and Oracle Corp. President Charles Phillips.

Gifford, the former FleetBoston Financial Corp. CEO, sold New England's biggest bank to Charlotte-based Bank of America earlier this year and became chairman of the combined company. He said he has known Kerry for 20 years. Kerry, he said in a statement, "understands that we must work cooperatively with other countries if we are to effectively fight terror or systematically encourage the investment in free enterprise around the world."

"I think the deficit is just plain bad for the country and bad for business," Peter Chernin, chief operating officer of News Corp., told an audience of about 250. "I don't think you can fight two wars, one internationally and one domestically, and at the same time cut taxes." His company owns Fox News Channel.

"There is a lot of disenchantment with Bush and his handling of the economy," said William Kennard, managing director at Carlyle Group and former Federal Communications Commission chairman. He said some people, including Republicans, believe Bush "has squandered an opportunity. He squandered the surplus in 2 1/2 years and he's passing on this debt to our children and grandchildren."

2. Are they playing with us?
Is this for real? I mean Moore has gone after the Carlyle Group and moveon is totally after Fox News...they are 100% to the right..what gives??

Hard for me to believe the leaders of groups we have actively been destroying would support us. Please explain someone???

3. This is a total guess...
But I'd have to say that most of the CEO's fit into the "Fiscally conservative, socially moderate" republican cubby-hole. These are the republicans who are totally unhappy with huge deficits and fiscal irresponsibility, which have become hallmarks for the Bush admin. They were very happy with the Clinton years and probably yearn to have him -- or someone like him -- back. As far as Fox goes, Murdock is still to the right of Buchanan, and he will never support Kerry. The CEO, however, is a different guy. So who knows?

Anyway, that's just my two cents...And again, just a guess. I hope someone else can post a much clearer reason.
