Tragic juxtaposition...Iraq casualties and RNC...
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 10:40 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
It's heartbreaking to contemplate...however, the troop deaths in Iraq could be at 1000 shortly before, during or soon after the RNC. How will BFEE handle this? They've got to realize this is a possibility, and I'm wondering what cold and cynical approach they'll use to spin this, if it happens.
I believe this administration sees this number, not in terms of the overwhelming tragedy that the loss of these brave Americans represents, but in the impact the numbers will have on their political futures. Sadly, it seems the ever increasing deaths of American troops in Iraq is not even deemed important enough to be covered by the mainstream media anymore, so this may end up being under the radar anyway. edited for grammer, added stuff.

1. That's a really good point
that no one has mentioned. But isn't the number already at like 980something? It seems like it would hit 1000 far enough in front of the convention for it to be really symbolic or anything.

I'm not sure about that number though, so if anyone wants to correct me feel free. It would be so ironic if that did happen, since they went out of their way to time their convention so it coincides with Sept 11 coverage, and now it's coinciding with the 1000th casualty.

5. Here's the coalition casualty count link, which currently stands at 923
It is conceivable that the 1000th casualty would be during or around the RNC...sickening that we may soon have lost 1000 troops to BFEE's oil gluttony. MKJ

3. Hidden Loses
Anyone know where the list of dead and injured is? We should not forget or ignore the sacrifices asked of them to remove Saddam from leadership of Iraq.

4. I think it's scandalous that the media stopped reporting the casualties.
