Something to consider for the VP choice |
|
And this is aimed at BOTH candidates, not one or the other as they both have something that needs considering.
In the case of John McSame he has to worry about ill-health being a HUGE factor in picking his VP. As such he likely will pick someone that (in theory) will be able to be president if he wins and dies for some reason.
Both Clinton and Obama are in good health and are highly unlikely to die of any serious health problems anytime soon unless there's some cancerous moles on either of them I don't know about or something like that. They have another reason to be VERY careful in their VP pick to ensure it is someone who could run the country if for some reason they are removed from office:
Both are candidates that are doing something never been done before, and I bet you there likely are QUITE a few nutjobs who would pick up a rifle and go president hunting with either of them given the chance and here's why.
Clinton has been the target of continuous GOP smears since 1992. She is hated by some segments of the country and there are many who would see her election as the prelude to the breaking of the 7th seal and the beginning of the end times or some such bullshit like that. This combined with that there are likely to be people who will flip out over the fact that she is a woman means that, in spite of the Secret Service's best efforts, she may be a serious target for assassination by any number of right-wing radicals in this country.
Obama's issue regarding this is different but the end result is the same. The simple fact is Barack Obama, as his supporters and others regularly remind us, is black. There are a LOT of MILITANTLY racist groups in the country that would see an Obama presidency in the same light as the previously mentioned RW extremists and likely receive it as an open call to arms for a race war to "save the white race" and othersuch nonsense. For that reason Obama runs the high risk of being killed in office by extremists in this country.
So please, while discussing who should and shouldn't be VP for either of the above do not let the political benefits of VP X or VP Y outweigh the simple fact that there is a considerable chance that said VP will have to step in and fill in as President before their boss's term is up.

1. I agree and back Kathleen Sebelius for that very reason |
|
It is not what she brings to the ticket, but what she brings to the office. She is a very competent leader.

And thank you for illustrating it, whoever is the VP should bring more to the OFFICE than the TICKET.

6. Like Clinton isn't just as hated as Obama |
|
Sorry, but there's been a cottage industry built up over the last 17 years based on promulgating hatred of Hillary Clinton. They're not going away.

7. Please don't introduce this concept into the common consciousness.... |
|
the more this possiility is discussed, the more it will become thought of as acceptable (from a historical perspective) if it occurs, and the more likely it will stimulate a delusional person to carry it out.

8. It is likely already being discussed |

Asking people to look at the white elephant in the room doesn't mean I made it appear out of thin air.
