So the full-of-hope-change-unity crowd booed Edwards
Edited on Wed May-14-08 07:46 PM by Skip Intro

when he brought up Clinton?

I couldn't be more, oh, what's the word....inspired...no, that's not it....turned completely the fuck off by the arrogance. Yeah, that's it. Why the fuck would anybody wanna join that club?

------------------------------
Before explaining his decision, Edwards was booed by the crowd when he said he wanted to talk about "our friend, Sen. Hillary Clinton."

"What I've learned, and I've gotten to know her very well, is that she believes with every fiber of her being that America can be a better place and that we need change," he said.

"It is very, very hard to get up every day and do what she's done," he said. "It is hard to go out there and fight and to speak up when the odds turn against you ... what she has shown is strength and character ... she cares deeply about the working people in this country.

"She is a women who, in my judgment, is made of steel," he said. "And she's a leader in this country, not because of her husband, but because of what she has done."

69. Those supporters managed
to ruin the most gracious thing I've ever seen in politics (and I've been around a long time) - he didn't have to mention Sen Clinton's name. John Edwards showed he had more class in his pinky (as does Sen Obama who put a stop to the booing immediately) than all the people booing put together. Those that are applauding the booing are just as bad.

that there are plenty of those "inbred racists" in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, too. And let's not forget Kentucky! That dog whistle has been blowing for a long time, now. Bill's really good at it.

I've heard boos at Hillary rallies, but as an Obama supporter, I didn't get up in arms about it - but I did feel their pain. Sorry, I'm not going to search Hillary rally footage for links.

7. Glad to hear of your support for John Edwards' comments. Yes We Can.
Of course, no Hillary supporters would have booed Obama if the situation had been reversed.

Of course not. At least, it was over after the first, visceral reaction. I wonder if that would have been the case - again - if Edwards had endorsed Hillary, yet praised Obama.

At any rate, your good words about John Edwards's quotes are a hopeful sign.

when Hillary mentions Obama in rallies her supporters don't boo...
I've heard them cheer for her when she attacks him in her speeches.
actually, I had the chance to see obama here in columbus the same day that hillary was here. I sat in his rally and he actually complimented her.
I later saw a clip on CNN where she BASHED him at her rally, and her supporters cheered!
and remember the "shame on you Barack Obama, shame on you"???? that was in Ohio too.

So give me a break about the supporters.

sad, but true

It's a way for the crowd to show that they are not forgiving her sleazy tactics. We have had enough. wasn't polite, but Hillary has NOT been polite, to say the least.

Payback time in a minor way. Best for people to get it out of their system. The campaign has been pumped up like American Gladiators and with so much riding on it, I'm certainly not surprised at the booing.

You and you rilk are completely grasping at straws, as usual. If you have ever attended a major political rally, you know that booing at the mention of the rival is not just common but typical. Not really when it is a multi-candidate race, but when 2 are going head to head, this is just plain what happens.

Your candidiate has dropped the bar lower and lower the longer the campaign has go on, so don't EVEN try to play that card.

It is going to take a lot to regain unity, and that is to a large extent Clinton's fault. John Edwards did the right thing in attempting that. Don't blame the crowd for it taking a lot more effort to forgiver her for her disgusting campaign.

Until then, she gets what she deserves.

MSM, The Clinton Campaign, and bushco. We have a right to boo those who have shit on us...you have the right to boo our candidate if you feel that he shit on you. Edwards handled this with calm dignity. His words were meant to unite our party...Here try it on: LET'S UNITE OUR PARTY! I think it feels kinda nice. It is up to you if you want to join in or pee on that attempt at uniting our party. I for one am STILL inspired by what Edwards said this day. Sour grapes out of the opposition shall not tarnish this feeling for any of us...

Even though Hillary likes to espouse that she is the champion of every vote being counted, here is a whole stadium full of people who played by the rules who she is more than happy not to have their votes count. I'm sure, to them, that Hillary's "advocacy" for the right of voters to be heard is a little empty and self-serving. I'd boo too.

It's unfortunate but it's just the nature of the rally atmosphere.

At least Obama has never had someone speak at a rally who has trashed Clinton and her supporters...Clinton never apologized for or repudiated Buffenbarger's remarks at her rally the night of the Wisconsin primary, where he essentially called Obama a liar and called his supporters "latte-sipping, Prius-driving, birkenstock-wearing trust fund babies".

51. So you won't vote for Obama because some of his supporters booed HRC?
I saw some of them clapping too! Which is it? We will never know how many people will forgive Hillary and Bill for what they have done in this years campaign. Some will be able to forgive and move on, but for others who have learned more about the Clinton's and their tactics it will be harder to do. I am one of those, but I would not have booed her either. I will try to move on from this year and hope that things will improve in the party unity. We are after all in this boat together and it will go down or float because of us. So let's hope there are more who can move on and vote for the best candidate this fall!

52. That's why the "unity" meme is nothing but a sham.
The rudeness had my phone ringing off the hook. McCain just gained a few more votes tonight. Nice going, keep it up.......

56. You'll calm down and vote for Obama this fall because you are loyal Democrat.
Thank you for your support.

66. Sorry........
I made up my mind long ago. I have no intention of voting for Obama. I'll vote for all the Dems., but not for the top of the ticket.

62. She earned every hiss, every boo; too bad there was no rotten fruit to lob.
She tried to back over Barack with her 14-wheeler and it didn't work.

Why some here expect us to treat her like the innocent and beloved trisomy 18 child is beyond me.

63. I didn't see his speech but I'll bet Edwards was embarrassed after the booing.
His thought bubble probably said (WTF? Bunch of childish supporters).
