Reagan did it in his 70's and McInsane is doing it now....

Maybe she will not repeat the same mistakes then.

5. As Nixon said, Never Complain, Never Explain.
She has the Never Explain thing down cold.

By 2016, maybe she will figure out the Never Complain part, too.

13. Maybe it was Hank the Deuce. Nixon sure as hell lived by it, though.
As a native Detroiter, I think you're right, now that I think about it. Thanks.

Should have thought about it before I posted, but these moments come more frequently now. He was a character, that's for sure. Wish he would have built the RenCen on the other side of Jefferson Ave.

Wonder what he would think about it now being GM world HQ?

31. OK. Where did you grow up? The Pointes? Warren, for me.
Moved there as a small child in 1955, north of 8 Mile and Gratiot. It was still farmland then. You know too damned much not to be a Detroiter. East side or west side?

34. I knew it. Maybe you're too young to recognize the pic of Detroit TV icons.
But everybody in every generation old enough to post here knows that when it comes to answering the question Which Way Did They Go, they went for . . .

Wrong side of Mack. Harper Woods? I hung out there and in Grosse Pointe throughout a wasted (literally) youth. Visited recently, and glad to see the Big Boy at Eight Mile and Vernier is still there.

35. Deetroit...
Edited on Wed May-14-08 10:04 PM by PassingFair
They call it "East English Village".

Funny thing, we had a friggen CONTEST to "name" our
neighborhood in the 70's.

I FACETIOUSLY put "Grosse Pointe View" as my entry,
because it conjured up visions of us Detroiters,
wistfully gazing across Mack Ave. into "the Pointes".
It didn't win, but a few years later I found out
that Grosse Pointe View was the original platted
name for the neighborhood!

Go figure!

P.S.: I recognize Bozo and Milky....

Milky was CREEPY as HELL!

36. OK, you missed some of these great shows. So left to right, it's . . .
Poopdeck Paul, Milky (you're right), Captain Jolly, Jingles, Johnny Ginger, Bozo.

Throw in a little Bill Kennedy, Rita Bell, Robin Seymour and B'Wana Don, and you have the early to mid '60s on Detroit TV.

Of course, not much later came Sir Graves Ghastly and The Ghoul (with Froggy, of course).

Those were the days.

Her physical stamina is amazing. She's a little older than me and there's no way I could keep up with her. The grueling campaign schedule would have killed me.

This is it for her. People are making enough ageist comments about her now, posting pictures of her with wrinkles, you name it.

It's over. She won't run again.
