Does anyone else think Obama has sewn up Gore's endorsement already but just isn't going public with it yet? Perhaps he will on May 20, or after the last primaries as the "leader" of a batch of superdelegates to crown Obama (or perhaps, on the eve of the final June 3 primaries, and give Obama enough delegates so that Montana and South Dakota can put him over the top rather than superdelegates.) Much like how I have little doubt Edwards was kept in reserve until after WV to change the news cycle. Gore will probably end up looking like the kingmaker.

1. Obama has wisely been trickling out his SDs |
|
for a few months now. Every time Hillary would do well, like in Ohio or PA, the next day he'd bust out several SDs. So I think Gore probably committed to him relatively recently, Edwards probably a little before that, and the strategy was to use their endorsements at specific times. I think Obama knew he'd lost W. Va, so out comes Edwards the day after. I think he knows he'll lose Kentucky next week, and probably win Oregon, he gets a split, but then Gore endorses him a day or so later. Then he blows her out in Montana and South Dakota like he's supposed to do and afterward everybody starts rallying for him.

3. Gore dropped a little hint a couple of days ago that he hadn't "ruled out" endorsing someone |
|
I wonder if that wasn't a nudge at Hillary toward the door.

5. I hope Gore doesn't endorse at all |
|
We all know he is a good Democrat in his heart. But, he is also an advocate for one of the most important issues facing us today. Advocates who must work within the political process can not afford to alienate people or burn bridges. That includes Republicans. He needs to keep powder dry and keep working to recruit, encourage, and maintain maximum participation from political leadership and citizens alike.

8. Don't worry about the Republicans. |
|
Already they are losing seats in Congress.
For atleast the next 2 years. If Obama wins they will have VERY little say in the gov and good measures will be online by the 2010 congressional races.
Gore won. As even the republicans now are running around trying to claim environmentalism to win a few people over. Now Gore needs to complete it by Endorsing Obama and then helping to get him elected. Just to show the republicans their bullshit against GW research FAILED.

9. Change the story is the name of the game |
|
Obama pulls big endoresement out of the hat when he needs them.
After the Reverend Wright controversy and his speech on race failed to quell the furor, Obama was able to change the story by pulling Bill Richardson out of his hat. The Clintonites went bonkers and suddenly the story became James Carville vs Gov. Judas. He loses Pennsylvannia and gains a couple of former DNC chairs. Now comes John Edwards following a loss in West Virginia. He probably has Jimmy Carter in the bag. As for Gore, who knows.
