BREAKING: John Edwards endorses New York Giants as Super Bowl Champions ... |
|
BREAKING: This news just in from John Edwards mansion ...
Statement by John Edwards on May 15th, 2008
"I am proud to associate myself with the New York Giants football franchise who I believe are in the strongest position to call themselves Super Bowl Champions after winning the forty-second Super Bowl on February 3rd, 2008. They only won by 3 points, but now that the game has been over for more than 10 weeks, I think it is safe to say that the New York Giants are the Super Bowl Champions and I am proud to count myself as one of their supporters."
"I would also like to pay tribute to the New England Patriots, who let's not forget did succeed in winning no less than three out of the previous six Super Bowls. There can be no doubt that the AFC is stronger today because of the strength and determination that has been shown by the New England Patriots."
Another example of true leadership by the former Senator from North Carolina! B-)

5. Gee, I wasn't aware the Patriots were still insisting they should be crowned champions, |
|
since they "were best-positioned to repeat next season."
That's the point you were trying to make, right? That Hillary's obviously lost and needs to give up?

19. Plus, the won the big games during the regular season, and polled very highly. |
|
Frankly, the Giants don't deserve it; they only captured it on a technicality. Even though the Patriots scored more points last year, the Giants just ran up the score in the last contest, and used that to steal the Super Bowl crown. Clearly the NFL should have awarded the title to the Patriots.

But I think most Obama supporters are smart enough to realize that if someone has waited this long to endorse it means they were keeping their options open until it was clear who was going to win.

25. There's Some Truth To The Argument... |
|
...that some SD's are/were waiting until we have a clear nominee before they endorse. Many of them are up for re-election and are keeping the "coattail" phenomenon in mind.
Someone like Edwards, though, has no such worry. I believe he truly was conflicted--especially seeing as how he's married to someone who most believe is a Hillary backer. I believe he knew a month ago that Obama was his man, but couldn't figure out the best way to "affect the race" with his endorsement. Announcing yesterday helps to offset the massacre in WV (in general) and the argument that "working class whites" will never vote for Obama. There IS a method to the madness..

Hillary supports the New England Patriots' efforts to use points from early season games against Jets and Dolphins against the Giants...
thereby solidifying the Patriots' claim that they are the Super Bowl Champions for 2008!!

if you include the points won by the Patriots in pre-season exhibition games, they clearly lead. Once the NFL rules committee sits down and votes to include those points into the season totals, then the Patriots will clearly be crowned the NFL world champions. After all, the Patriots played those games and just because the Giants agreed that those games wouldn't count towards the regular season doesn't mean that the fans who payed to watch those exhibition games should be dis-enfranchised from having they NFL experience certified.
Oh, BTW :sarcasm:

32. of course, he would have never had to post-endorse if the patriots |
|
weren't cheaters who felt entitled to the trophy. But since they have refused to admit that the Giants won and are actually still standing on the field with 2 seconds left after their Head Coach has run off with his tail between his legs leaving them stranded, someone has to send a gentle message to them... "It is over."

The Clinton's had a it's too late for his endorsement quarrel as well. Obama doesn't have the screw you attitude the Clinton's have. Richardson's endorsement is greeted with pleasure by Obama, as is the Edwards endorsement. No sarcasm or bitterness here.
