Bush's nazi comments don't bother me
quite as much as McCain's lies.

“I believe that it’s not an accident that our hostages came home from Iran when President Reagan was president of the United States. He didn’t sit down in a negotiation with the religious extremists in Iran, he made it very clear that those hostages were coming home.' - McCain

Despite losing the November 1980 presidential election to Ronald Reagan, President Jimmy Carter, in the final days of his office, negotiated the release of the hostages through Secretary of State Warren Christopher, Algerian intermediaries and members of the Iranian government.

In the closing days of Carter's Presidency, Algerian diplomat Abdulkarim Ghuraib opened fruitful, albeit biased, negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. This resulted in the "Algiers Accords" of January 19, 1981, which entailed Iran's commitment to free the hostages immediately.

On January 20, 1981, minutes after Reagan was sworn in as President, the hostages were formally released into U.S. custody, having spent 444 days in captivity.

The hostages coming back had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Reagan. Either McCain is lying, or he is not in touch with reality. Let me know if the traditional media calls him out on this.

1. Of course, they won't call him out
because the entire country has always bought into the lie that Reagan got the hostages released. You can't rewrite "history." :sarcasm:

2. Yeah, Reagan didn't negotiate, he sent George H.W. Bush instead.
What a puke.

3. Didn't the freeing up of frozen Iranian assets have a LOT to do with that release?
