Bush Family 'Loyalists' in 1776
I've seen several posts here about the Bush family's support of Hitler in WWII, but did you know that during the American Revolution the Bush's were loyalists. I've met distant relatives of the clan here in Canada. In 1776 the Bush family accepted the British offer of free land in Canada. They left the 'Southern Colonies' with British protection, came north to Canada then 20-25 years after the war they sold the free land in Canada and moved back South.

There is nothing wrong (obviously) with being Canadian, or British or even a loyalist during the revolution - the point is that they have always been opportunists who took the most profitable route and went into hiding when the going got tough.

1. I'd like to see that family tree diagrammed out ... wouldn't surprise me
besides, don't the fanatics do all these tracings which showed that so-and-so is 56th cousin to what's-his-face all the time?

If it can be found, get the link up!

2. Sorry
don't have a link, and I'm not a fanatic

Just had a conversation with a 56th cousin twice removed (or something like that) and have no reason to disbelieve her.

3. Bush and family have done plenty of things wrong
but holding them responsible for things their ancestors did 230+ years ago is a little extreme.

4. I'm not saying that they should be
held accountable or anything, just pointing out what seems to be a very old family tradition.

5. true ... but link or no link to the family, "conservatives" are throwing a lot of bullshit around
that they would have been the ones "fighting for freedom" (today's "conservatives" that is ... the neo-cons).

When all along, the "conservatives", with today's "My President, right or wrong" mantra, would have been saying "Lynch the rebels! Long live the King!"

6. Half of my family went to Canada
Edited on Thu May-15-08 07:40 PM by Ichingcarpenter
the other half fought in the Revolutionary War.

Bush's Nazi connections are much more important.

On edit....... I had family members that fought for
the South and some that fought for the North on my mother's side
