This is a shameful attempt to attack a woman who has repeatedly said she wouldn't be here without the opportunities and blessings of this nation. The Republican Party's pathetic attempts to use the same smear tactics to win elections have failed in Mississippi, failed in Louisiana, and will fail in November because the American people are looking for a positive vision of real change. And if the Tennessee Republican Party has a problem with Senator Obama, maybe next time they’ll have the courage to address him directly instead of attacking his family.

She thinks she's off limits? That response isn't effective in any way. It's knee-jerk and very defensive for starters. You know the other side is going to play their slimy little games like this, but the actual smears are yet to come. She slipped up with that "proud" comment a few months back, and Camp Obama knew it then too, when they had her clarify herself then.

They could have responded much more effectively and nipped this thing in the bud but they didn't. And why change the subject and bring up the congressional elections that really have little to do with Obama?

That last line is hilarious. They've already attacked Barack in this campaign, and they've only begun their real below the belt smears on him, with more to come. Responses need to be quick but effective, not acting like you're a victim.
