HRC AIDE: 'PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE REALITY'
From NBC's Andrea Mitchell
After a day when Bush and McCain were attacking Obama on foreign policy, Hillary Clinton was talking about rural issues in South Dakota -- not why she's still in the race or how she can win the nomination, although she did fire back at McCain.

Asked if there had been a change in message, a top Clinton aide told NBC News, "People understand the reality, but they are still loyal to her."

Asked again about the softened message, the aide replied: "This is what she has been doing" for more than a week -- an indication that this reality set in after Clinton's less-than-stellar performances in North Carolina and Indiana.

On Edwards' endorsement, the Clinton aide said, "It hurt, but it was not a surprise." NARAL's endorsement, on the other hand, was "shocking."

"Edwards was not her friend; they were her friend."

1. Good for Clinton for toning down the attacks
and beginning to transition out of the race.

3. Indeed
I've noticed the change mostly, and it's welcome. (though there's still been the occasional cringe-worthy moments)

2. I don't think NARAL should be vilified by any Clinton supporters.
They waited until this close to the end to endorse and the endorsement I think is because they feel he will be the nominee. They want to make sure people don't support McCain and the judges he would appoint to the Supreme Court.

5. I dunno
Just to show NARAL how wrong they are, we're voting McCain so that Roe V. Wade is overturned. Take that traitorous NARAL!

6. HRC surrogate Geraldine Ferraro is tearing Barack apart on Faux News today on national security.
While some extend their hand to pat Hillary on the head for toning HER rhetoric down, her campaign is still doing her dirty work 24/7. When she calls off the dogs, then I'll say good on her. Til then, Barack better not turn his back because she'll shiv him for sure. She's still in this race for a reason and it's not to play nice.

Ferraro is no longer getting any orders from the campaign she's pissed off at the Obama campaign and we can expect that idiot to be on TV attacking Obama till November.

I'd be worried however she's such a loser she lost a Senate primary race in NY after being the first woman on a major ticket.

9. The dogs and the dog whistles.
Clinton can't just tone it down, she has to actually halt the bullshit.

7. I wouldn't be surprised if NARAL got a commitment from Obama to...
be an informal advisor on Supreme Court appointments

11. Seems she will calm down now as Obama has..
Obama knows he has won and thus the reason she attacks and he just plays it cool... He can not risk her voters. Now that she may be seeing the math too finally, we can end this is a civil manner, thank God.
