Mississippi Dems considering John Grisham as next gubernatorial candidate! |
|
RNC's Haley Barbour's reelection chances are slim--and granted, the election is three years away, but Barbour removed many people from Medicaid, and this has caused quite a stink for him.
The Democratic chair of Mississippi's Democratic party recently said that John Grisham is being considered for the next Democratic guvernatorial candidate. Woohoo!!
Watch out, Californians...we may have our own celebrity governor soon!

that sounds interesting, I know he gives money to the dems and was a roomie of former governor Musgrove. I read one of his books about this judge, it was quite interesting, but I dont really read him much.

4. Wow, JK. You know a lot about Mississippi politics. |
|
You are right...he was a roomie of Musgrove at Ole Miss.
I am just glad that Mississippians are fighting fire with fire now.
First, a Democratic governor; next, the WORLD. :-)

no I dont, I just know from political alamanac, aka my second bible. I think its a good idea, I think he'll win, hey if Kerry has a shot here, he may win your state heh, I know not a chance, but hey it could happen. Oh and the book is very expensive but worth it, its helped me become a big nerd on districts, congresspeople, etc.

6. That is freaking AWESOME!!! Grisham for Gov! |
|
He is totally a progressive Democrat, and other than being a writer he actually was a lawyer.
This rocks! I hope it happens.

I hope Kerry swings by there more often--he's drawing big crowds and could excite a lot of people.

14. Charles Barkley is a Republican. |

"And Charles Barkley, currently an NBA commentator for TNT, also has said several times he wants to eventually become the first black Republican governor of Alabama." http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/9245349.htm?1c

This is from a transcript of Bill Maher's HBO show in which Barkley was a member of his panel:
MAHER: Now, we have – what I – what interests me about you three is what you have in common, and I guess I would be in there, too – is we’ve all gotten a lot of grief about something we’ve drawn or said or produced. People have gotten mad at us. People hate us. I know people who hate you. I know people who hate you. I know – they hate all of us. Some people hate all of us. And what is interesting, though, is that I’ve heard you’re a Republican—
BARKLEY: No.
MAHER: Come on, you said you were going to run for governor of Alabama as a Republican.
BARKLEY: No, I never said that. I was having a disagreement with my grandmother one day. She says, “You gotta vote Democratic.” I says – and she was explaining to me; she says, “Republicans only look out for rich people.” I says, “I’m rich!” So everybody thinks I’m a Republican because of that. I’m an independent.

That gives him a leg up on Ahnuld and Raygun.
That, and he's got a good heart.

Absolutely, TacticalPeak. Tremendous magnanimity of spirit (even if that's a wee bit tautological); tailor-made for high Dem office. Left leaning (or as some would say Christian Gospel leaning).
I only came across his books the other day, and I've been raving about him to everyone I talk to. He comes across as a man's man, but it's clear he's been crazy about women from an early age. I couldn't put his books down for the knife-edge excitement, and his dark humour is brilliant!

|
he would run. Mississippi's home, and that state needs hope and help.
