8. i cannot annouce my
source at this time it come from a military advisor to the obama campaign.they feel like they need to hit mccain right in the mouth.i would not post this if source were not reliable.if i have further contact this weekend i'm sure he would not want his name released.there are several military experts on the obama campaign.do some research.i post this now because obama will have the votes soon and is wanting to solidify the ticket immediately.given the circumstance its a good pick and probably only a one time VP.

21. I disagree
There will have to be a final vetting of his top choices. They will run every eventuality through some focus groups and polls, includinng Webb's remarks about women, his writings, the fall-out from Hillary's loss, will Richardson provide the foreign policy gravitas with the voters, all of it. They'll also look at any personal issues, like I've read that Richardson drinks a bit too much, no clue at all if it's true. But all of that will be available before Obama makes his final decision.

29. He has a binder
with about 20 names. From there he'll narrow it down to 5-10. Each one will be interviewed and vetted by the oppo research team. When he comes up with a name he'll consult with Dean, Pelosi, and whether we like it or not Hillary.

We can speculate all we want. We will not have a VP nominee to at the earliest the first week in July.

Edited on Fri May-16-08 10:23 PM by Labors of Hercules
but as of 10 pm tonight, I know for a FACT he has already offered the post and the offer has already been accepted.

And that's all I have to say about that.

23. I have learned to never click on unclear post titles starting "I have learned that" from folks w/88
posts. Um, yeah, you have this terrific source that say Obama has ALREADY made the decision, and you and your 88 posts are just rushing to post it here on DU. Hey, thanks!

31. And if you learned not to click on post titles starting with "I have learned that"
Then why did you end up clicking and making a reply?

And only having 88 posts is nothing to be ashamed about.
So I assume your high post count was achieved by replying to posts that you don't click on.

28. It's a good guess, but I am quite skeptical.
In fact, I do not think it will be a foreign-policy person at all, but rather someone who can hold down the domestic front. Obama does not seem to be in need of a VP to help with this issue today, as he cheerfully took the fight to both Bush and McCain. Why would he want to have someone like Webb or Zinni - so he could say 'and my running mate approves what I just said'?
