Protest and Rally May 31st at the DNC
Good Morning Democratic Underground,
There is another opportunity to go to Washington D.C. at the end of this month to hold a count our votes rally outside the DNC for during their May 31st meeting.

We are going to make sure that the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee that is hearing the cases from Florida and Michigan about counting the votes, knows that we want our votes counted!

Transportation and lodging will be paid for, you are responsible for our own meals.

Here's what you need to do if you want to attend:

1. Register for the DC Rally - May 31st -

The details are subject to change. Availability is on a first come, first serve basis.

At this time, this is our plan:

A. Leave Florida the AM of May 29th

B. Rally the evening of May 30th (smaller rally)

C. Rally the morning of May 31st

D. Depart DC the mid-afternoon of May 31st

E. Transportation and lodging are free.

F. Please make arrangements for your own meals.

Departure locations have not been determined and will be dependent upon the number of reservations by county. The registration deadline is Tuesday, May 20th (although this is also subject to change)

Pass this on to your network.

Note: All logistics are subject to change.

To register go to http://www.floridademandsrepresentation.org and click on the register here box below the FDR Logo and above the menu bar. A pop-up window will appear, click on the Sign Up button to go to the registration page.

For questions, please call 888/599-1586. Due to high call volume you may need to leave a message but someone will be contacting you within 24-hours. Or email jhannagan@floridademandsrepresentation.org - BUT if you want to register, use the registration link.

31. Actually, we DO want democracy to prevail.
It is the Hillary-backing thugs that are trying to subvert it.

But then it is nothing new. The transcript of Hillary's blogger call opened my eyes. They will stop at nothing to destroy the party, if they are not allowed to be in the driver's seat.

12. Nah. Think about it for a minute.
They're gonna get a handful of protesters to show up with their hilarious signs and kitchen utensils to bang together. Their tiny, but rabid group won't make much of an impression or garner media coverage. (Think about their "huge" protest outside the Today Show.) If the Obama mob shows up, THAT would get the press to notice and it gives these jokers attention it doesn't deserve.

Better to show our support of the DNC another way - like with a respectful letter and donation. Money speaks louder than pots and pans.

We got better shit to do: phone banking, fundraising, canvasing, etc. Let these people have their little rally... we've got a general election to win.

This is nothing about having your voice heard and everything about desperation to get Clinton nominated. The DNC has done its job and its sickening that so many don't care that their own states are what caused this mess yet they want to crap on the DNC.

8. Hopefully the protesters aren't TOO disappointed
If a truly fair solution doesn't put Hillary leaps and bounds over Obama in the vote count (nothing will). I know that's Hillary's objective in whipping this issue up into a frenzy, because she could have cared less when she thought she had the nomination on lock. I don't know if the protesters are on the same page as she.

10. Why should YOUR vote count this year, any more than mine didn't
count in any primary for YEARS because our State Primary was always after the candidate was already chosen? I'm not even talking about 1 State, I'm talking about FOUR different ones!

NO I didn't LIKE IT, but I didn't stamp my feet and throw a fit!

14. A woman who lives near me is signing up for this
She's a senior citizen and going with a friend. They are huge Obama supporters and I was concerned to hear this

Why is she going? Does she want the votes to count? Does she feel disenfranchised? I asked her all these questions.

Ummm noooo.... She has limited resources and likes the idea of a free to trip to DC with her transportation and hotel paid for. She plans on spending a new few days touring the sights while the other people gather around the DNC.

I kid you not. She told me this not 30 minutes ago.

15. Well, there's your plan...

Instead of wasting your time staging a counter-rally, go to a few retirement websites and add a post with the title, "Free travel and lodging to tour the capital of this great nation."

Add a few tourist notes and links to info about public transportation, things to see, etc. I guess somewhere in there you'd have to add a note about "How to behave like a Hillary supporter." You could probably have some fun with that.

It would be much less work than all the fuss of a rally and you'd be helping a senior citizen get a vacation in a year of expensive travel and tough economic times.

It would probably be cruel and over-the-top to focus your posting on forums where the topic is incontinence, gas, or bladder trouble.

27. It says participants are only responsible for meals

On the flyer, it says James Hannagan is paying for most of it. On an earlier email
from him (I did some Googling), it says a "private citizen" was paying for all
lodging, food and transportation for an April rally. This email was sent to a
Hillary Clinton volunteer coordinator!!!!

It seems to me that finance laws may be broken here.

Link to email:

http://hrclinton.meetup.com/54/boards/view/viewthread?thread=4534609

The question is, who is this "private citizen" funding this operation? Who has
that kind of money and motivation?

23. This is to ask DNC break the rules the FL DEMS deliberately broke and count my vote for Clinton?
HOW DARE YOU SPEAK FOR ME? No thank you.

Our Florida Democratic party leaders (all Clinton insiders) SCREWED THE FLORIDA VOTERS by ignoring the DNC rules and allowing the primary date to be changed - including turning down the offer by Dean to work something out in case the FL GOP legislature voted for the change and we had no choice. RAther then coming up with an alternative, those same FL party leaders figured it would all be over anyway by now so it didn't matter anyway since Clinton was of course, supposed to have won by Super Tuesday. WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR PRIMARY VOTES WOULD NOT COUNT as a result of the decisions of our Florida Democrats (Nelson, Wasserman-Schltz, Thurman, etc.).

So now you want the votes to count as is so Clinton can claim Florida as a Win? What about those who didn't vote because they were told their votes didn't count? What about those who voted one way knowing this was the case but would have voted a different way had our votes counted? How about the fact that Clinton broke the rules and campaigned here in South Florida before the primary (she called it a "fundraiser)?

In Michigan, she was the only name on the ballot- she broke the rules there too- so that means she gets those votes as well- as is? Give me a break.

You don't change the rules now - oh wait-- I forgot. The Clinton campaign has a different set of rules-- in their version they get to cheat and bury themselves under the pretense that they are stopping disenfranchisement by-- DISENFRANCHISING Florida voters. Very nice.

26. Oh boy, they're at it again
Hillary supporters trying to bend, even break the rules all in order to get their candidate the nomination.

Frankly at this point I think that delegates from neither state should be seated. The responsibility for this mess lies squarely with FL and MI Democrats, it was they who went ahead and broke the rules. What's really funny is that all of the candidates agreed to play by the rules, but now that Hillary is hopelessly behind, she and her supporters are on this "count the votes" kick trying just so they can break the rules and somehow make an argument for Hillary.

So this is where Hillary's money is now going, eh? Going to pay for astroturf demonstrations like this one. No wonder she's going into debt.

Look, if you're not willing to play by the agreed upon rules of the Democratic party, are you really sure that you're a Democrat, and not some petulant child:shrug:

Frankly my opinion at this point is fuck 'em both. Florida has shown time and again that they can't run an honest election, and in Michigan, how the hell can you honestly allocate the delegates when there was only one candidate on the ballot?

Paying for Logging and transportation?

Hell, why didn't they do that to protest the war and this regime?
I think that says who is really supporting this farce
and PSYOPS operation.

When it comes out where the REAL money came out, it won't be pretty for the
Clinton campaign and the sleeping Zombie Hillary supporters. It will come out, believe me
the money trail is always there. You can damn well bet that Repuglican money
and handlers are in on this.

The truth does come out.

This seems like a sleazy way around campaign finance laws. If people want to go on their own, fine, but some "outfit" paying for travel and lodging? Where were these funders when people were trying to get to DC to protest the Iraq War. Oh, right...
