2. My brother-in-law has had a few of those; they're the prelude to a real stroke.

Gotta clean out those arteries and blood vessels.

All of us Boomers gotta get with the program - SOON.

They took him to the hospital right away, right? I'm betting TK's going to be okay.

5. A seizure can kill you as fast as a stroke.
A friend of mine has a seizure and died instantly.

8. I posted this elsewhere, but I want to reiterate...

A seizure, (or two) by itself, doesn't necessarily mean anything. I happen to have a seizure disorder, and, while inconvenient, it's certainly manageable. As long as it's not a sign of something else, it's not that bad. Onset of epilepsy among older people is not uncommon, and they're doing tests to make sure it's not part of a stroke or something else serious. Let's wait and see.

To the poster above, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. :grouphug: When a seizure is fatal, it's usually part of something else, like a stroke, or another condition like swelling on the brain or kidney failure, for example. Fortunately, they say he's conscious and having tests done.

(Honestly, the biggest problem is being unable to drive for a period of time after a seizure, but when you're a Senator, you have people to drive you anyway. It's the same thing the Chief Justice ended up doing after his seizure.)

12. Or it can indicate a brain tumor
that was the case with a relative of mine. No other symptoms until a seizure. But there are indeed many other illnesses which can cause seizures.

(CNN) -- Sen. Edward Kennedy was hospitalized in Boston, Massachusetts, after suffering an apparent seizure Saturday morning, his family said.

"He is undergoing a battery of tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure. Sen. Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours," a statement from his office said.

Kennedy was transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for evaluation after initial treatment at Cape Cod Hospital, an earlier statement from his office said.

The senator spent less than an hour in the Cape Cod facility, hospital spokesman David Reilly said.

Earlier, a well-informed Democratic source in Massachusetts said the 76-year-old senator had "symptoms of a stroke" at the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port.

10. May I pass along my sincere wishes for a complete recovery?
Ted looked tired the last time I saw him. I hope he will be fine and will learn to slow down and not take on so many fights.

God speed to a trouble-free recovery, Ted!
