Obama Shows Class And Respect To A Clinton Fan In Attendance During Rally
Edited on Sat May-17-08 10:31 PM by aaaaaa5a
Is this a sign of party unity?

During Obama's campaign stop today in South Dakota, there was one Clinton supporter who held up a Hillary sign during his speech.

Several Obama supporters apparently became agitated and attempted to deal with the situation. But Obama stopped his speech and told the crowd that it was a free country. He said the Clinton supporter had the right to wave the sign as long as it didn't block the view of other audience members.

Then he added...

"There will be plenty of Hillary signs at the convention!"

Classy!!

Here's the link. George Mcgovern was also there to support Obama.

And should've had the secret service escort her out of the arena.

12. Please
You would like Obama to act like Bush and have no one who disagrees with him in his audience? This is a free country and I prefer a candidate who can handle the voice of descent.

Yet another reason why Obama should be our next President and why he can unify our country.

2. I saw that ..... it was very classy.
The crowd started hissing at the Hillary supporter, but Barack was very conciliatory. In the end, the disruptor looked like an ass.

has see-through signs? I find it hard to believe her sign was the only one at a political rally.

7. I remember him defending some anti-abortion protesters at one of his rallies in New Hampshire.
He mentioned freedom of speech, how it was hard and took guts to go into a place where everyone disagreed with you to protest/make a point, etc.

You know all that stuff in the Constitution - he really believes it. :)

He also wants all the Clinton supporters to feel welcome and not alienated.

He is a good guy and, yes, not all of his supporters act as good as he does. That shouldn't be a surprise and it shouldn't be held against him.

11. How it sickened me.....
when someone dared wear an opposition tee shirt or god forbid...had another candidates picture in their wallet at a fucked-up Bush rally, they were escorted out by the SS and were usually arrested. I remember many folks would then loose their jobs over it! Obama is the sea change this country needs.

21. It goes both ways
Not even the best politician can fake the inner reaction to kids. Senator Obama really connects with them as both the kid's and Senator's faces light up from within. I've been noticing this too Frenchie.

35. i remember a long time ago, gloria steinem, talking about jesse jackson.
she was talking about how this very thing. about how she felt you could really tell something about a politician's character by the way they are with kids. she said she had never seen one that didn't look a little unnerved when someone handed them a baby. but that jesse could have them climbing on his head, and not be flustered. o has that same thing.

20. It's good sportsmanship and telling it like it is.
"Yes, ladies and germs in my audience - don't be pigheaded jerks who can't tolerate a different opinion. Let the woman have her say."

I think if Barack Obama read GDP he'd vomit. As in: :puke:

24. Obama did great. Tho the person could have atleast put the sign down.
When people cheer they hold their signs up and that was a time to do so. But holding it in the way of others the entire time was not very nice and did nothing to help Clinton.

31. Seriously, WTF?
They act like Obama's Supporters have to convert them, like it's our job to educate them and kiss their asses. I think it is only a small minority that think this way. They don't give Obama anything but hate, because they dislike some of his supporters. Strange, to say the least.

Hillary going after the right opponents and Barack seeking party unity. I think we have two winners here!
