Last night at "The Rocky Horror Picture Show...."
Bryan and I braved the 75 minute drive out to Newark, Delaware, last night to see "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" for the first time in almost a year.

At the point at the end of "I'm Going Home" when Frank N. Furter turns around to see that the theater he's been singing to is empty, a call went up from the audience. "Look! It's a Hillary campaign rally!"

The entire theater erupted into laughter and applause.

The Hillary campaign is dead; it just hasn't had the good sense to fall down yet.

10. And Obama has the Charles Atlas Seal of Approval?
Just for balance. Clever audience comments as always.

Don't want to mix too much intra-party politics in with one of my favorite movies.

I believe that Nixon is the only obvious political reference in the movie; can't remember if that was in the original London stage production. Of course, there are Nazis and "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

9. I've been thinking about The Rocky Horror Show, lately
'cause I was remembering when I use to live in OB, California, in the late '70's, the lines outside the local theater on Sat night for the Rocky Horror Show.. I didn't understand that they went in and sang the songs and knew all the lines and it was great fun for them until much later.

Now, I'm doing the same thing with "Hairspray":P I love it and I'm playing it all the time and learning the songs and the dances 'cause it's HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY and it's a great story about Integration built around the dance shows in the '60's and celebrating being Viva La Difference!

14. I am delighted to learn
people are still going to see Rocky Horror. I was a regular in the late seventies. I watched it again a few years ago, and it suddenly struck me how eerily it predicted the political history of the U.S. and England in the 80s, with the conservatives shutting down all the freedom the show celebrates in the end.

I know...I overthink everything; lol!

16. Well, to be fair
Obama came in for a jibe earlier on.

Audience: "Describe Obama's balls."
Criminologist: "Heavy, black, and pendulous."

And McCain in that same scene:

"Is it true that you're the illegitimate child of John McCain and Koko the Gorilla?"
Crim: "It's true...."

The main point of the live RHPS experience is complete and total irreverence. Frankly, my favorite comeback for the empty room was "It's a Columbine class reunion!" and for when Frank and Rocky crash into the swimming pool was "Senator Kennedy? Are you okay?"

25. Thanks for the extra ones
Good that the RHPS audience savages everyone.

Haven't been to a showing in a while. The weirdest(!!) RHPS experience for me was watching it in Paris with French subtitles and an audience that mostly set quietly eating their ice cream while looking rather perplexed. This was probably in 1978.

When you lose the "Rocky Horror" crowd, you've pretty much lost the nomination.
