Edited on Sun May-18-08 07:44 PM by 2rth2pwr
Hillary is older than he is and I don't think she has taken a vacation like Barack has to the Virgin Islands, but she doesn't seem to

make near the amount of gaffes as Obama does about the geography of the United States. He's said we have 57 states plus one, or was it

47 states before that?, he's claimed he's in one state when he actually is in another.

Now he is saying that he's losing Kentucky because Arkansas is somehow closer to KY than Illinois is.

What the ****?

"What it says is that I'm not very well known in that part of the country," Obama said. "Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it's not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle."

Could we please just get Hillary in so the rest of the world can stop laughing at us?

Too bad Hillary wasn't. I am certain Obama knows there are 50 states but he was probably talking about the number of campaign stops. Either way, his small gaffes don't equal Clinton's gigantic one. Good try.

btw: Obama said he meant to say "contests", not "states". Also he was referring to demographics and not geographical proximity when comparing Arkansas and Kentucky.

If you look at this map...young man...you might see how close those states are.

When you grow up you will see how language is used in higher thinking, more complex ways.
It's a wonderful thing - not thinking in just black/white, x/y, linear ways.

With things like figurative language, symbolic meaning, and imagery, your world will blossom!

That's ok, though! Many people can't grasp that level of thought until they reach at least puberty.

It can happen, but don't drop out of middle school and attempt to conquer DU with your limitations.

Because no one has ever made a mistake while giving a speech.

Of course, the difference being, that Hillary continued to repeat her Bosnia story multiple times, which kind of negates the spin that candidates make mistakes from time to time due to lack of sleep.

42. At least the democratic part of the world is hoping we elect Obama
I lived in Europe and was married to a European for 17 years. I have many friends who still live there and they are sooo happy that Obama is going to be the next president of the United States. The Europeans I know want America to go back to being the nation they knew - flawed, certainly, but also optimistic about the possibilities of democracy. They all also know that America's greatest disaster was slavery, and think it is great that an African-American will be president. This is no statistical sample, of course, but these are also people who travel to the U.S. at least every two years.

actual magazines and correspondents have said some things -

From Der Spiegel, the leading news magazine in Germany -
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,533449,00.html

SPIEGEL ONLINE: A survey taken by German pollster Forsa shows 43 percent of Germans prefer Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton (39%) for US president.

(an interesting article after the Penn. primary - the Germans seem to ALL think that the intra-party fighting is tearing apart the democrats and is a bad thing... but don't let that stop you from posting yet another and yet another hit piece... and I'll make sure to bookmark this so I won't have to go find all the links again as I had to do when you kept insisting Obama's unofficial adviser who works for the most prestigious peace-making org. in THE WORLD was somehow bad for doing his job. - there are other articles on this site (links on the top right ) that present some very positive profiles of Hillary and her legacy, as well. You might enjoy them.)

----
From a foreign correspondent for CBS with 30 years of experience -- via Public Radio Int'l -http://www.theworld.org/?q=node/15860

The excitement generated by the American primaries has echoed around the world. It’s especially strong in Europe, where it has grabbed public attention like no other American campaign I can recall since the days of John F. Kennedy. Europeans are not only fascinated by this race for the White House; they wish they could vote in it.

If they could, a majority would probably choose Barack Obama. ...my own observations indicate that Obama’s appeal cuts across all political and class divisions abroad, from cab drivers to the top echelons of European society.

(we goes on to note that the most conservative organizations in France, as well as the socialists (not the most liberal) want Obama to win.

.......
--this reinforces the above piece- it is about black Americans who migrated to GB, as well, to escape the racism here. Of course, it also notes two Tory (conservative) MPs support Clinton...

http://academic.udayton.edu/race/2008ElectionandRacism/International/International02.htm

Indeed, the whole of Britain is transfixed by the Obama "phenomenon" seen as the most significant event in American politics since another young and charismatic Democratic hopeful, John F. Kennedy, swept his countrymen off their feet.

In the British media, he has been portrayed as the "heir to JFK," and America's "new Kennedy" and a "rock star" of American politics. Among Britain's blacks, in particular, the events across the pond have made a deep impact with many looking at the Obama surge as the start of something bigger; something that will not stop with America.

The 46-year-old Senator from Illinois is seen as the most potent symbol of social change in America since the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s and suddenly there is a sense of optimism in Britain's normally despondent black community.

From the NYTimes - Obama Fever in Europe - Europeans buying Obama's books after his speech on race.

I know this cannot replace the "Heathers" sorts of attacks on Obama, but if you insist on posting them, I'll reply when I see them. With links. and information, not put downs based upon snark.

Since you know that Obama is going to win the primary, based upon any metric that does not involve numerical contortion, I wonder why you try to insult the democratic nominee. Is it just sour grapes, or do you actually want a democrat to win?

works for the most prestigious peace-making org. in THE WORLD. You say the man stepped down to keep everyone happy, if that is true, that

this man is really doing the best job at bringing peace to the world, why won't Obama stand up for this selfless man? Why can't he stand

up for what is right? Why does he seem to always turn his back on the people who have been around him and sacrificed for him?

53. I didn't think it was a serious question.
the guy stepped down in order to avoid creating an unnecessary Fox News talking point (or Joe Lieberman for McCain) that linked Obama to Hamas since the republicans already tried to insinuate that he is a scary muslim and that he went to school in a madrassa.

the whole thing was timed to coincide with Bush going to Israel. Bush would fly there on the accumulated loft of right wing gas bags and make his comment about "some senator" - which, as the RNC noted, did mean to insinuate Obama - and use this whole bit to scare the talibornagains who think that Israel needs to be a pawn in order for their beloved god to destroy the world and to try to stir fear within certain sectors of Jewish-American voters.

So the guy stepped down, even tho he was unofficial, so that the campaign would not fall into the trap of letting the Republicans define him or shape the questions of his candidacy.

this is politics, after all. I didn't really think you were that naive. You're obviously intelligent so I thought you were being sarcastic.

We are all in this together and even though I say I would not support Hillary, I may have to if she is on the ticket. So, let's all just call it a day.

63. Here's some disgusting racist post from the article the OP cites:
Here's the Lexington, Kentucky Herald-Leader, catapulting the propaganda:

"Obama blames Fox News, e-mail for likely loss"

Obama, facing likely defeat, will skip visiting Kentucky

He acknowledged that he’s trying to “reverse a lot of misconceptions”
about his background. He is a Christian, although some e-mail chains
have said he is a Muslim.

And here's some of their readers:

"I love Fox news. Why does a black man want to push his values and race down our throats. If that isn't bad enough, he has a mean spirited wife that hatesw America. You won't see her singing "My Country this of thee"....all you will see is her eyes that are full of contempt for white folks."

"I can't picrture her and his chldren on the White House lawn rolling Easter eggs. I can't imagine what recipies she would serve up. I don't look forward to seeing her "soc it to me" kind of dress style after we have used to Lara Bush's lady like way of dress. However, I am sure she will support any AIDS FUND RAISERS SINCE US WHITE FOLKS GAVE THEM AIDS per Rev. WRIGHT."

"Sm mmbrs f th md r s sck dn't knw hw n rth th gt pd fr bng s drt nd stpd. vn ftr n plg th cnnt gt vrth SWT bt m fml nd lv t b clld swt t s nthr hr nrt thr wth m btthn jst rmmbr sm f ths ppl r hrd wrkng WHT ndctd ppl th r mmbrs f th md nd th wlk mng s."

"Obama has been given his chance to appear on Fox News and did. I did not see the segment because I chose not to. He threww this rural, bitter, gun-toting, Bible clinging, 48 year old renaissance lady under the bus a long time ago. Not long enough though because I still remember. As for his "Jesus Christ" advertisement, I find it totally offensive. In my Bible, Jesus sits at the right hand of God not in front of a cross in a hate filled church in Chicago. How dare Obama. Fox News has been balanced whether they are a conservative news station or not. The rest of MSM, they are banned from our house. Get off your high horse Obama you are not the one...Operation Turndown is now thew norm in our family if you are the nominee."
