Barack Obama thru John McCain's rose-colored glasses...
Edited on Sun May-18-08 08:48 PM by kentuck
If John McCain can do it, then so can I. Put on my rose-colored glasses and predict the future under President Barack Obama?

First of all, he chooses Senator Jim Webb as his VP. With Webb's history in the military and as an under-Secretary in Ronald Reagan's Administration, he garners a whole slew of Republicans to Obama's side in the general election. It is hailed far and wide as a brilliant decision.

Also, he chooses Bill Richardson as his Secretary of State. There is probably no one in America with more diplomatic experience. Once again, brilliant choice! And he chooses Chuch Hagel as his Secretary of Defense in a show of bi-partisanship and to show that he is serious about healing the divisions of the last Administration.

While he is on a roll, he appoints a new Attorney-General by the name of John Edwards. Party activists all across the land applaud his decision. Then he offers a real plum to Hillary Clinton - a Supreme Court nomination. Hillary is torn as to whether she wants to continue her career in the Senate or take the lifetime appointment, as a balance to the radicals on the Court led by Antonin Scalia.

Also, in a remarkable diplomatic move, he goes to the UN to ask for assistance in Iraq and announces that the plans are to pull almost all of our troops out of that country in the first year of his Administration. The world press applauds his leadership. He calls for a conference with all the leaders of the Middle East in an attempt to broker a satisfactory resolution to the occupation of Iraq.

On the homefront, he announces the formation of a bi-partisan Committee to investigate several questionable acts of the last Administration, including the firing of the US Attorneys and the spying on Americans. He calls for the new Congress to roll back the tax rates and the estate taxes to the same levels as they were under Bill Clinton. He also requests that the capital gains tax rate be rolled back to the same as under Ronald Reagan. He also requests that FICA taxes be raised to include those making up to $250,000 dollars, until further notice. The purpose is to rein in massive spending and debt of the last eight years and to increase the value of the dollar. By the end of his first term, he is praised as a world-wide leader and wins his second term by a landslide. :-)

2. If I called my wife a c**t in public that would be the end of a lot
of things, so I guess he can do stuff I can't.

4. And hereI thought you were a geezer,
from your subject line, dreaming you could handle a 24/7 job - while taking short naps throughout the day during critical times. Also, short naps at night due to prostate issues, with subsequent daytime fatigue.

Instead, you have some very sane ideas (Webb could be a problem with women), and I salute you for making me look at your post.
