Elizabeth Edwards Not Backing Hillary: "I Was Never Inclined To Endorse"

Elizabeth Edwards on Sunday rejected speculation that she might endorse New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.

"If you listened to what I said and not to what pundits said I was thinking, you would know that I was never inclined to endorse," Edwards wrote in an e-mail to Politico Sunday afternoon.

Speculation about whether she might back Clinton spiked when Edwards did not appear Wednesday with her husband, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, during his endorsement of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who is winning the support of an increasing number of party leaders and superdelegates as he appears poised to edge out Clinton for the nomination.

3. Shitstorm already started
Might want to pick another topic before
the time to edit is gone and you use your 3 up. But I still thought it was news
worth repeating.

6. I'm disappointed, but I have far more respect for her than her husband.
I mean, he might have shown some political guts had endorsed either candidate before the NC primary, but to wait until that vote was over, well I don't see courage or foresight there, but rather political calculation.

9. I think he just wanted to get stuff done.
Notice how he didn't disparage Hillary. In fact, he gave her tons of compliments. It wasn't an anti-Hillary endorsement, or even really a pro-Obama endorsement. It was a pro-democratic party endorsement. And he wanted to bring more attention to his anti-poverty initiatives.

7. I think Elizabeth would make a great Senator.
Maybe I'm wrong, but she seems more politically astute than John.

12. The speculation that she would endorse Hillary is more desperation from the Hillary camp.
Watch for more and more insane things to be said as it becomes more and more inevitable that Obama is the nominee.
