while this post came up. I WAS there....and this definitely gives you a sense of being there. they should show aerial shots of the lines around all the blocks. that was the craziest thing I've seen in awhile.

18. Get this: the City of Portland's official slogan is "The City that Works" |
|
and it is no secret that Oregon is whiter than many Liberals and Progressives are comfortable with.
This may be Oregon's unique contribution to the Dem Primary this time around, to put the lie to Hillary's memo.

Except for maybe the 4th pic down, with the man and woman in the center of it who look a little too fond of the High Fructose Corn Syrup to be standard-issue latte liberals.
Especially as in almost all of those pics you see dotted around these beige, I don't know what you call them, traveller-type hats they advertise in the New Yorker. J. Peterman-type stuff.

49. The hats = local fashion. |
|
Oregon has a tendency towards head coverings, due to this constant wet stuff coming down, or this weird fiery ball thing that tries to burn us when the wet stuff isn't coming down. If it's not a floppy hat, it's a hoodie, or a knit cap, or a scarf. Since it was a firey ball day, there's a lot more people whose heads could be seen.
Oh, and in relation to the "Corn Syrup" folks, Oregonians, as a whole, tend to do a lot of mass transit (lots of walking) and bicycling, so general body mass is a pretty poor way of gauging age, class, (etc.) here. In addition, a lot of our local chain restaurants and stores tend to "upsell" with higher quality ingredients, so it keeps the town in pretty slender shape.
One thing I had thought of, as well, is that while the park can hold that many, there's not a lot of parking/accessability, so the more mobile groups (in terms of health/ability) are over-represented.
