Democrats Observe A Fragile Cease-Fire

By Dan Balz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, May 20, 2008; A01

--snip--
But while she presses forward, aides say she is determined neither to be pushed from the race prematurely nor to be seen as doing anything to damage Obama's prospects of winning in November if he emerges as the nominee. Her campaign team believes that is the best way to bring the party together as quickly as possible once the nomination contest is over.

Her advisers say that a major reason she does not want to be pressured out of the race is that she believes it will be easier to bring her supporters over to Obama once the primaries are over if they think she was able to finish the nomination battle on her own terms.
--snip--

I just thought that was an interesting angle to bring to attention here. I think we'd all be better served to just stop with all the attacks back and forth and just let this thing play out without rancor.

1. that would be great if her campaign was actually doing that.
but she's so determined to make it look like she isn't responsible for losing that she is working all angles to convince her supporters that Obama's win wasn't fair.

Fuck that.

4. Agreed, FUCK THAT
if she was doing what WAPO says no problem, but her supporters and herself are
doing everything to damage and destroy Obamas credibility.

SO I second Orange's post FUCK THAT.....

7. the thing that bothers me about Hillary.......
...is why would she point to Karl Rove as a reputable opinion when he said she was the stronger candidate? Why would ANY self respecting democrat believe this liar is telling the truth this time?

:banghead:

Doesn't she realize he is only saying she is stronger because she's the one they want to run against? If she were truly the strongest candidate, wouldn't she be winning by now?

8. Exactly. She says one thing, does another, and thinks no one notices.

2. its a pretty excuse
if only it was true. Unfortunately she continues to lie and try to manipulate people.

Two face is about the only way I can describe her at this point.

3. That doesn't make any sense. She wouldn't be out their beating the popular vote drum
if that was the case

5. Or the "Obama is sexist" angle
That one was the final nail in her coffin.

9. Balz is gobbling bullshit. She is half-playing nice because when she doesn't....
the supers line up to jump ship. She can buy time only if she doesn't look like she'd dividing the party. Meanwhile, her surrogates, though, harp on about anything but the rules and math being a pathway to the nomination.

She is not quitting tonight. Not quitting after the rules fight at the end of the month. Not quitting after all the primaries. You don't run a campaign deficit of twenty-mill, send out surrogates to slander the process, get in bed with right-wing hate (Rove...yesterday), or say "this thing isn't close to being over" if you're prepping your supporters for unification. "Her advisers" are only pushing a new campaign line: she divides because she wants to unite. Okey dokey.

10. what bullshit
she's trying to buy delegates, using Ferraro as a surrogate to attack Obama, quoting and cuddling up with Republican criminal Karl Rove, and we're supposed to think she's not trying to damage Obama's prospects?

bullshit.

At this point, I hate Hillary Clinton. I absolutely despise her. In my opinion, she has destroyed herself politically with these last couple of months of campaigning. There is no way in hell I would ever vote for her. Ever. I say that not because she has a chance in hell of actually winning the nomination, but because I sit here watching her try to steal the nomination.

If she were to pull off this bullshit, she would destroy the democratic party. She would destroy its future because the many young voters that have registered are not there for her. She offers NOTHING for anyone who wants to get away from these corrupt dynastic politics. She honestly makes me depressed at the thought of her as president.

I had given up on this country after 2000 and then 2004. When she was the frontrunner I just felt sad that this nation was so corrupt and so willing to head off the cliff because no one had the guts or the skills to stop this suicide pact with Republicans. I didn't support Obama initially, but after reading up on his experiences as an organizer and hearing his leadership skills via public speaking, I came to think that we might not go to hell in a handbasket after all. He inspires me to want to work to fix things. She inspires me to want to retch. He makes me think our children can have a better future. She makes me think our children will see nothing but the most base, vile and cynical power structure who wouldn't give a damn about them if they were drowning in the Mississippi.

her claims to the mantle of feminist icon are a joke to this woman. I guess if I had a former president for a husband I could launch a presidential bid too. What's so feminist about that? This female thinks she's nothing but an old-school pol. So what. She offers no inspiration to me.

It's hard to believe that she continues this crap and, in doing so, sucks the air out of the room. Go home, Hillary. You lost. There is no way in hell I would ever vote for her. Not after these last few months.
