Wow! Clinton is jumping on this sexism mantra.
Sexism Is the Only Explanation

Clinton, the first woman to make a serious bid for a major party's presidential nomination, said she did not think that racism was a factor in her bruising battle with Sen. Barack Obama.

Instead, she said, "The manifestation of some of the sexism that has gone on in this campaign is somehow more respectable, or at least more accepted."

She added, "It does seem as though the press at least is not as bothered by the incredible vitriol that has been engendered by the comments by people who are nothing but misogynists."

...she tries EVERY TRICK in the book to "win" otherwise - and she's even come up with some new ones. Setting her party, women, and the race in November on a track to destruction just so she can "win".

God what an EMBARASSMENT to women and Democrats/Progressives.

9. What is offensive to me is the entitlement felt by Hillary and some of her supporters....
She isn't entitled to the presidency just because she has ovaries, and her supporters aren't entitled to have the candidate of their choice.

If they want to pitch a fit, then take their toys and go home, that is, of course, their choice. But other Democrats will remember their actions for a long time, and it may be another decade before a woman is able to become a presidential candidate.

23. Attacks against Hillary in general does not mean you are sexist.
Edited on Tue May-20-08 11:16 AM by mystieus
You can attack anyone, and feminists simply imply "it's because she's a woman".

Couldn't the Obama campaign turn around and say "You know that ABC debate shit? They only attacked me because I'm black!" But you know what...they didn't. It wasn't because he's black. Just like how Hillary wasn't attacked because she's a woman.

Feminists should be legitimately proud that a woman is able to stand on equal grounds to a man in this campaign. The fact that they are bitter that she is going to lose it is what is causing all of this feminist bullshit.

Your candidate isn't losing because she's a woman, she's losing because of who she is and how she is running her campaign.

24. Why wouldn't she?
Edited on Tue May-20-08 11:20 AM by SoCalDem
She cannot win now because she ran a terrible campaign..planned by a MAN (and some of his MEN pals)
She's tried about everything she could think of..

1) bash the media
2) tears
3) racism
4) disregarding math
5) extreme "localism"

The plain in-your-face- facts are awful to face, but she must do it..

She was TOLD (probably by men) that She was the foregone-conclusion WINNER, before anyone even really announced they were running.

She was HANDED the NY senatorial seat in 2K (by and through the efforts of MEN, her husband being the architect of the plan)

She ran up obscene amounts of raised money she did not even need for her re-election for the senate seat..money she COULD and planned to use for the presidential run .

She schmoozed with the "boys' club" in the Senate, snagging "just the right committees" to burnish her credentials.

She claimed the accomplishments of her husband, yet insisted that his foibles were "off-limits" for discussion during the campaign...as was her "darling baby girl-child"..a mere 28 years old, and clearly an adult..

She used sexism AND racism at the very core of her campaign, and still the math beat her.. Is math "male"?

The odd thing is this, though.

From day-one, maybe she SHOULD have run as a woman..like she is NOW.

She started out as the inevitable, indomitable forerunner with all the money , all the name recognition..and flat-out told us she WOULD be the nominee. there was little,if ANY "female-ness" to her..

She was the FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT, tough-as-nails policy wonk with all the answers. It was ONLY after she started losing, bigtime, that she turned on the "feminine wiles" act, and suddnely ANY attack on her was somehow "sexist" or the guys & media beating up on poor little Hillie.

Sexist? She was the one to name it, use it and accuse it
Racist? She was also the one to re-name it, use it, and deny use of it..

Summary:

she did not deserve to win
she lost
she "succeeded" in duping millions of women who bought her snake oil, and now swear it has invigorated them, cured their ills, and made them all feel great
she succeeded in making millions of closet racists feel good about themselves, now that they are suddenly no longer racists..just hardworking americans..white americans..feeling okay with that dropping out of high school thing, and the poverty thing, and the shitty job thing..because mz hillie says they are fantastic people, and it really MUST be the fault of that black guy, and not their own lack of planning for their lives..or that they have been electing republicans too long..

This leads me to believe that Obama suffers from as much sexual discrimination as Clinton does... probably even more.. since Women are the majority in America.

Gender Issue Lives On as Clinton’s Hopes Dim

By JODI KANTOR
Published: May 19, 2008
With each passing day, it seems a little less likely that the next president of the United States will wear a skirt — or a cheerful, no-nonsense pantsuit.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is now in what most agree are the waning days of her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. To use her own phrase, she has been running “to break the highest and hardest glass ceiling” in American life, and now the presidency — even a nomination that once seemed to be hers to claim — seems out of reach.

Along with the usual post-mortems about strategy, message and money, Mrs. Clinton’s all-but-certain defeat brings with it a reckoning about what her run represents for women: a historic if incomplete triumph or a depressing reminder of why few pursue high office in the first place.

The answers have immediate political implications. If many of Mrs. Clinton’s legions of female supporters believe she was undone even in part by gender discrimination, how eagerly will they embrace Senator Barack Obama, the man who beat her?

“Women felt this was their time, and this has been stolen from them,” said Marilu Sochor, 48, a real estate agent in Columbus, Ohio, and a Clinton supporter. “Sexism has played a really big role in the race.”

. . . . . .

34. Leadership is being able to guide focus
toward issues that really matter. A leader is able to handle rumors, gossip and small minded insults. A woman cannot make it to a top position without having navigated through and around the most lethal forms of sexual issues imaginable. I do not buy the ruse that Hillary Clinton is a victim of sexism, because I have respect for the skills she must have gained in order to make it to a Presidential nomination. I am disappointed in the inability to shift focus away from such petty insinuations and interpretations of others that only serve to derail the discussions away from more important issues of the day.
I want a leader that is not distracted by such pettiness. Really, the President of the free world is above this.
