Self-fulfilling prophecy:
Definition 1: A prediction that directly or indirectly causes itself to become true.
Definition 2: "Barack Obama cannot win in the General Election, and therefore I will not vote for him in the General Election"
Just something to think about.

expectations and re-confirming assumptions, which then further shape behavior, which further confirms assumptions, which shape behavior even further . . . . ad infinitum.
Bush and Saddam H. were also an example of this principle.
It also applies to Racism and Sexism.
It's one of the most useful concepts in Social Psychology, rates right up there next to things such as "Attribution Error": People attribute the bad behaviors of others to their permanent personality flaws, while they explain their own bad behavior as being due to temporary situational factors.
Psychology is one of the most useful Sciences.
