Goalpost moving: Kentucky edition
Edited on Tue May-20-08 07:45 PM by crimsonblue
My observations from Hillary's historic speech tonight in Kentucky.

-------

Democrats in those two states passed 2.3 million votes.

That's why I'm going to keep making our case, whoever she may be.

Kentucky has a knack for picking Presidents.

This state delivered two terms to a president named Clinton.

And it's often been said, "As Kentucky goes, so goes the nation."

Neither Sen Obama nor I has won the 2010 delegates needed to win the nomination.

Neither Sen Obama nor I will have reached that number when the voting ends on June the 3rd

Our party will have tough choice to make: who's ready to defeat McCain in the swing states.

Who's ready to rebuild the economy and end the war in Iraq.

Who's ready on day one?

To me, to Bill, and to Chelsea, (blah blah blah name dropping blah blah).

blah blah the name dropping keeps going blah blah.

I want to thank chairman Terry McCauliffe.

I want to thank my supporters in Kentucky, and Oregon.

People ask me all the time, "how do you keep going?"

Emma Hollis. Pandering to the geriatric ward.

Break the hardest, highest glass ceiling in the land.

Dalton Hatfield-- sold his bike and video games (terrible return on investment).

he was able to really give me a boost (how does robbing a little boy so you can pay your bills make you feel, Hillary?)

I will work as hard as I can to elect a democratic president this fall.

(the teen to Hillary's left is an uber-tool)

There will be no stopping us.

Chris Matthews: It was interesting that her entire crowd was white tonight.

Andrea Mitchell: This is the 'Norma Rae' Hillary Clinton, the new and improved Hillary Clinton.

-------

Somebody needs to tell Hillary that she's fighting windmills.

5. Yep.
Not so much Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa though. :hi:

Even the people who live there didn't really believe that. :)

7. This is almost becoming a comedy, but not in a good way.
The disdain some people feel can't be feigned, and how could she not know this?

:hi:, Patsy!

6. I think you can put anything in the space between "as" and goes."
As mayonnaise goes, so goes the nation.

As contract bridge goes, so goes the nation.

As Prince Matchabelli goes, so goes the nation.

18. ...
Of course it was. :yourock:

Fun fact: Once upon a time, I sent Mark Goodman at MTV a postcard with a question on it. On the front of the postcard was the phrase, "Who the hell is Rula Lenska?!" It was yellow, and shiny and had lip prints on it.

I don't think they hunt much, down there.

Pull out the geneology chart and figure out a prior ancestry connection with Puerto Rico....or maybe they bought a summer vacation home there with some of their $110 Million?

14. Has anyone see the exit polls?
It's quite sad. It brings a new meaning to that Saturday night live skit:

16. Obama is the king of goalpost moving
Edited on Tue May-20-08 08:43 PM by OzarkDem
He's employed a cheap strategy during this campaign by claiming victory constantly when he's nowhere near it.

The GOP are impressed by his use of this sleazy tactic. Mitch McConnell was talking about it on the radio today.

17. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
ok... phew... that was a good laugh you gave me.. thanks.

Obama has never claimed to be the presumptive nominee, he has used the math and reality to support his positions. Obama has never trailed in pledged delegates. He has more total delegates. He has remained consistent on FL and MI. He has more votes. Nice try at your pathetic projection and GOP fearbaiting. you get an A for effort, but unfortunately results matter, so you get a big, fat FAIL!

19. "Firewalls" "Popular Vote" "Super-Delegates"
"Small states don't matter" "it's not the math it's the map" "Blue collar uneducated white voters will not vote for Obama" "Florida and Michigan will not count..umm must count" "Caucuses are undemocratic" "Students in Iowa should not be allowed to vote" "The Nevada Caucus is unfair" "Whoever wins states in the primary, automatically wins the same states in the General" "Whichever Democrat wins 'some of the' large Democratic States must automatically win the nomination" "Democrats who did not vote for Hillary, will vote for her in the General. Democrats who voted for Hillary will not vote for Obama, they will vote for McCain" "If this were a Republican primary Hillary would have won" "Obama is unelectable"
