8. Yep, we can all have "Hussein" for our middle name soon |
|
I remember once when I lived in California in the early 80's and Dennis Banks was wanted by the FBI. The American Indian Movement had buttons made that read "I'm Dennis Banks".
Maybe we should have buttons that say "Hussein is my middle name".

partly it is just that i would get sucked into fights all day every day. but mostly it is that i get into that kind of a mode. i lose my cool. and i just don't want to be like that here. or anywhere. lots of people i just can't talk to much after these 8 years of retarded rule. i look forward to the end of all this. i will dump my list, and give everybody a few more chances. the long time posters, like you, were the last to go. but i just had to get some work done!

Soon enough. But OK, a quickie:
I like Obama. I have always liked Obama. I sat in on the session he gave at YearlyKos last summer and he impressed me then.
I didn't think he was quite ready for this step but he's been busy all year going about proving me wrong.
If DU had not been so heavily skewed against Clinton all year you might have seen me post more positive things about Obama than I did, but I have a lot of sympathy toward Clinton supporters for the online siege Clinton supporters have endured here and elsewhere.
Half the Democrats in the nation voted for Clinton. Democrats believe in Democracy and don't put "the common person" down the way that it seems to be with blue blood Republicans. Clealy (to me at least) given that, Clinton got an overly harsh rap hereabouts and her supporters often did also as a result. So most of my time here went to defending her. But my true feelings about her and Obama were never that one sided.
Clinton made a mighty effort but she fell short. Obama is a really impressive candidate and I believe he needs our support now to beat McCain.

44. Clinton supporters have endured an online siege here and elsewhere - You are right. |
|
I was sorry to see it happen and I did what I could here and there to counteract it, most of the time I just stayed out of any/all threads that looked like potential pile ons.
I hope that many Clinton supporters, with some time, recognize that most DUers who support Obama did not pile on -- a vocal subgroup can do a lot of damage.

30. P.S. I am really excited by this historic opportunity |
|
to drive a stake into the heart of racism AND dynamically engage emerging younger generations of Americans in the task of rebuilding the American Dream on a better foundation. I remember what it felt like to change America when I was young. I would love to see another wave of that carry us further toward the nation we can all be FULLY proud of.
It's going to take a lot of work. I think it can and will be done, starting with electing Barack Obama President of the United States.

Hi Tom!
I have been such a fan of yours for so long! (The old CCN). It has been tough being on the opposite side of the Clarkies.
But this time I was torn between following the old man and my first political hero, Senator Durbin. I stayed neutral for a while but ended up following my heart and supporting Senator Obama. I miss being on the same side with those of like mind as when I started this Odyssey in the draft Clark days. It's funny how we can all start on the same page and in the end be in two different libraries. I've learned a lot about being objective and just how crazy political spin can get. It hurts to read the stuff posted about Senator Obamma on the CCN so I can imagine how hard it is for Clinton supporters here and elsewhere.
I hope the folks on the CCN can come around so we all can be in the same book again.
I hope Wes will be SOS or VP.
Thanks for being that OP I love to read no matter what!
