Bush Speech: Kerry & Bush Agree On Iraq War
From Bush's rally at Pensacola, FL

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/08/20040810-10.html

"And now -- and now, almost two years after he voted for the war in Iraq, and almost 220 days after switching positions to declare himself the anti-war candidate, my opponent has found a new nuance. He now agrees it was the right decision to go into Iraq. After months of questioning my motives and even my credibility, Senator Kerry now agrees with me that even though we have not found the stockpile of weapons we all believe were there, knowing everything we know today, he would have voted to go into Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein from power. I want to thank Senator Kerry for clearing that up." (Applause.)

True/False? Is he a liar on this topic or not? (I know he's a liar on almost every other one, natch, so he's surely lying here, right?)

1. Such complete and total bullshit. They need to play Kerry's
actual response next to Chimpy's "interpretation" of it.

They still manage to amaze me at their willingness to lie and distort.

3. They only use snippets of Kerry's ideas/speeches but
it is disturbing in any case. I heard that speech of GW's today, then heard the one by Kerry at the Grand Canyon. Somehow the words and their meaning/interpretations got all garbled up. All the same it did leave me feeling a bit sick and worried.

I'm voting for Kerry no matter what but I do have my misgivings about his stance on certain things.

I was ecstatic about the DNC convention; filled with hope and excitement. With all the negative propoganda afterwards I have to admit I'm feeling queasy. Not that I don't want Kerry but that I am worried he won't make it.

I'm back to the ABB. Maybe if the media allowed us/me to see Kerry's rally's across America AS MUCH as they show Bush's, I'd be more enthused. We're getting many more Bush Ad's on TV than Kerry Ads. Kerry ads don't seem to be as hard hitting either. I'm extremely worried. Somebody disabuse me of this feeling...yikes!

2. This should end the furor over this issue here on DU.
If Bush* is now using the smears that some people here have posted to drag down Kerry, we know that the whole thing has been a ploy.

6. It is *ahem* amazing that some people here managed to be spot on
In their criticisms of Kerry and match the GOP spin almost word for word.... makes you think, duntit?

"And when America gives its word, America keeps its word."
(another lie from the same speech)

4. Thing is, bush's lies are only heard by his invite-only audiences now
When he drags this line out at the debates, and Kerry slaps it right back in his face, the liar will be exposed yet again.

7. Well, that means the troops and his donors, effectively
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 11:39 PM by Cronus
Since he speaks almost exclusively to military people in bases in order to not have to pay for the flight to his campaign financing events.

The problem Ihave is that some of the troops seem to beleive the little bastard.

8. Clever BS
to get leftists to either sit out or vote for Nader.

The media is doing the same thing -- it's all part of Rove's plan, and what can I say -- by the number of people here whining about it, it's working to SOME extent.

9. But wait
Bush is taking a jab at Kerry for "flip-flopping", but it kind of sounds like Bush is saying "Kerry would still vote for it, despite how wrong it was. Stupid him." Thereby calling the kettle black.
