She's not sorry for what she said. She never will be, either. |
|
Edited on Sat May-24-08 11:59 AM by Hailtothechimp
The apology I want to hear is something along the lines of "I shouldn't have said what I said, and I'm sorry to anyone I offended."
What she has said, and the media is now passing off as her "apology," is more along the lines of "I said what I said, and I regret that you took something out of it that I didn't want you to. Too bad you aren't bright enough to follow my train of thought."
She's telling us how we are allowed to interpret what she says. And should she ever become president, this is all we could ever expect from her.
This, more than anything else I've ever seen, disqualifies her from any consideration as president/vice president.

1. She knew what she said was the wrong thing the first time she said it |
|
but if it keeps one person (or a few or several) from supporting Obama then it has served it's purpose.

for Obama because of the risk of assassination (you can google that). She's used it in the past to fan that flame, to make him "unelectable"...now I think it's all about the Super Delegates. She KNEW he had SS protection early last year because of this.

She said assassination. She was replying to a question about why she rejects calls to exit the race, and she said, "Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June."
She said it. WE KNOW what she was implying. There is no gray area here.

about what she was implying! You know only what you have twisted her words to mean, because that is what you WANT her to have said.
You are right that there is no grey area. SHE WAS NOT ADVOCATING OR HOPING THAT SENATOR OBAMA WOULD BE MURDERED! Senator Obama was not the topic! It is not always ABOUT him!
Get a LIFE! And you might as well see if you can get one with a clue!

Robert Kennedy was assassinated in June. It's nearly June. And I promise you lots of people do not want to see a black man as president.
If you can't connect those dots, I'm not sure what to say to you.

who do not want to see a WOMAN as president either!
Senator Clinton lives every day with threats and has for many years. Obama was not the topic of the question. SHE was the topic of the question. She was not advocating or hoping for anyone's murder!
This is the most ridiculous reaction to anything since...well..not that long, actually....since "Those people are shits"! hit this board.
I didn't connect any dots there either, because there were NO DOTS TO CONNECT!

That was an explanation of what she said, not an apology. She is sorry if someone was offended, because no one should have been. She knows the remarks were immediately warped and twisted, and she is soory about that.

Newsweek's Howard Fineman suggested that Clinton's comments could move superdelagates towards wanting to end the primary:
She seems constitutionally incapable of just saying I screwed up and her led footedness about this here is being observed by all the people who are still undecided about whom to back, the last 200 superdelegates here, they've got be looking at this and saying that this is a campaign that needs To Be Put Out Of Its Misery Real Soon"

25. Hillary made the same statements back in March/see TIME magazine |
|
Hillary was pointing out the historical fact that Democratic campaigns have often gone on into the summer (Robert Kennedy's, Bill Clinton's and Walter Mondale's). The same language is in a TIME magazine article about her in March. And she has said the same thing at other times. One hears what one wants to hear. I believe it is called cognitive dissonance to let in only things that agree with ones mindset or to turn information into whatever agenda one has without being conscious that one is doing that. It may not have been wise for Hillary to use the term now but it was not meant to cause harm to anyone. Hillary is a policy/history wonk. That is how she thinks and talks. Obama isn't. He's cool, intelligent and elegant in deed and phrase. These are different styles/personalities. Let the process play out and may the better candidate win. And, I will vote and campaign for whoever wins. Democracy is a messy business but it beats the alternatives.
