There are thousands of exceptional Hillary supporters at DU. |
|
Edited on Sat May-24-08 03:18 PM by last1standing
There really are. They support the Democratic party, they share the same ideals and philosophies, they are there just to post a hug when someone talks about what a shitty day it's been. Just like thousands of Obama supporters.
Then there are a few, little more than a handful who work to divide us when we talk of unity, play up any small misstep or perceived misstep from out candidate, ready to grind that heel in when we're on the floor reaching for a hand. Just like some Obama supporters.
I'd like to say thank you to all those exceptional posters, on both sides of this primary season, for being more than good Democrats - for being good people.
Thank you and we WILL win in November.
Together.
By the way, wouldn't it be good to see something other than anger on our front page. Let's give a few K&Rs for the Unity threads out there today. Let's show that we think of more than eating our own.

Although, I must admit my shock at finding a non-inflammatory post in this forum. :)

2. Well they should all wake up and realize her campaign is over. |
|
Its over. Way over. Long over. Seriously over. If Senator Clinton does not have the good sense to withdraw and start calling for unity then her good and loyal supporters should start doing it for her.

4. Everyone is entitled to support whom they wish. |
|
So long as we're all together as Democrats and supporting each other, it doesn't matter who we support as a candidate.

8. I understand that. But do you think keeping going makes sense? |
|
Do you think it helps our chances in November? I don't. Forget the assassination crap, Clinton in that interview is admitting that she has no realistic expectation of winning the nomination, but is holding on for the off chance of something 'unexpected'. What sense does that make?
So if keeping her campaign going makes no good sense and if it damages our prospects for November, why continue to support her?

10. No, but then I don't think wasting time posting on a message board makes sense. |
|
I still do it, but it doesn't really make sense when it's a beautiful day outside.

Just because they're not spamming GDP with insane diatribes, like 8 or so posters do, doesn't mean they're not still around.

6. The Obama bashers here aren't representative of Clinton's supporters |
|
any more than Al Qaeda are representative of Muslims, the IRA are representative of Ireland, the KKK are representative of white people, or gang-bangers are representative of black people.

Why is asking her supporters to stand up where she has failed to do so unhelpful?

21. Because I don't think your request |

...will actually help anyone do what you desire and would most likely have the reverse effect. Even though your suggestion and expressions of that attitude are among the more temperate on DU.

I don't find appeasement particularly nice. Try after she's finally the hell out of the race.

17. So you believe in the bush* view of what appeasement is. |
|
For the rest of us, talking to our rivals isn't appeasement, it's diplomacy. But from your post it sounds like you believe otherwise.
