A brilliant novel by William Styron and a very good movie with Kevin Kline and Meryl Streep. Streep plays a Polish woman named Sophie, who ends up in a German concentration camp and is told by a SS officer that she has to chose which one of her children she wants to live. (Of course, the Nazis kill both of them anyway). The novel and the movie are two of my all-time favs.

The economy sucks. The latest terror alert has been so mangled that the spooks of other countries say they won't share intelligence with us any more. The Swift Boat Liars have created a resentful backlash and placed a spotlight on Shrub's own 'military' record.

You'd simply go based on logistics. I'd think unless there were road closures, I start with the closest one, grab that child and move on. No guilt, no decision--just action and common sense (something Bush* clearly doesn't have as evidenced 9/11 in that classroom).

24. Carrying kids out of The Towers!!! The Utah Family !! |
|
In the days after the Massacre, I remember hearing about a large, multi-child family from Utah who had made the effort to be the first people on The WTC Observation that morning, and must have, then, experienced the whole thing real up close...
I feel no reason to doubt this story. My friend who told me this was a Mormon from Utah, whose father knew Cheney and thought him, "A Good Guy."
As I write,I grow more and more convinced that this ad is aimed at Bush's base in Utah, and whom else may know about this family..
I am so sickened.
This Piece of Shit and his Killer Wife are two Sick Fucks.
But they're going to get theirs....

38. Any Confirmation That Actually Happened, Mr. Patriot? |
|
It has the ring of "urban legend" to me. My recollection either of the extensive coverage of human interest angles at the time, or of the New York Times accounts of all the dead, does not include mention of any such family.
The reference struck me as purely bizarre, without any reference whatever to reality. that is a thing, after all, that intersects that wretch's life at very few points....

ANOTHER "soft" ad here in Oregon. I only saw it twice but he showed a snip of a flag hanging over WTC ruins in the we have faced tough times as a nation rap. This was just a couple days ago. (different than the one that caused the uproar)
I cannot tell you how this disgusts me. Even if there were no war for false reasons, no destruction of the environment and no tax cuts for the rich, THIS would be enough alone for me to vote for anybody but Bush.
It's explotation of grief for something he is guilty of at least doing nothing to prevent.

I do temp work from time to time and at one very conserv. office I worked at, they said that Kid Rock was unpatriotic for treating the flag as he did during the superbowl. It didn't matter that the guy is one of the most patriotic rockers out there and it didn't matter that he's a major supporter of the troops with all the time he's given to the USO.
But I guess it's okay if you want to exploit the flag in the name of patriotism. Give me a break!

31. According to the Patriot Act, you wouldn't be able to "pick up" any child. |
|
My sister works for Galena Park School District near Houston and a couple of my family members were sent a letter telling them that in case of any emergency, natural disaster, terrorist attack etc., they will not be able to pick up their kids from school. If and when that ever happens, all hell will break loose!

I assumed it had to do with that patriot act thing, but I could be wrong. Like I said, all hell will break loose if there is some disaster while kids are in schools and the parents will not be able to pick up their kids. The administrators assume the kids will be safer in the basement of their schools instead of out and about waiting for their parents.

43. I saw the ad on Olberman. |
|
I was so disgusted at * for using 9-11 yet again to play on people's feelings to get votes.
And the question, 'which child would you go get first?' How is THAT going to make anyone look at * in a good light? To me, it would make a parent feel very uncomfortable to begin with. Then on top of that, they would have to relive 9-11 to put themselves in the frame of mind the ad suggests. BAD move Rove and gang. BAD, BAD move.
And Stepford Wife just sat there while * prattled on and on, as though it was a normal every day conversation one would have.
'Oh Honey, if the plane were going to hit our house, which child do you think we should try to save first? And maybe there won't be enough time to save the rest, so which one do you want to keep over the others?' GAG. Sick, bad, stupid, utterly devoid of anything resembling true character and a HEART.
I think Rove has spent way too much time around *. * is really starting to rub off on him.
