'Let's Move Forward', Axelrod Says of Clinton RFK Gaffe

There was a lot of talk about this here and a few people asking about the Obama campaign's response.

'Let's Move Forward', Axelrod Says of Clinton RFK Gaffe

ABC News' Mary Bruce reports: Sen. Barack Obama's chief strategist asserted this morning that his campaign is not trying to stir up and prolong concern surrounding Sen. Hillary Clinton's comments on Robert F. Kennedy's assassination.

"As far as we're concerned, this issue is done,” Axelrod said in an exclusive appearance on ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” “It was an unfortunate statement, as we said, as she's acknowledged. She has apologized. ... Let's move forward."

However, as recently as Saturday, Obama's campaign was bringing attention to the incident by sharing harsh commentary against Clinton from another television network.

On Friday, when referencing historical contests that have extended into June, Clinton explained, "We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California."

The Obama campaign initially reacted negatively, saying the comment was "unfortunate and has no place in this campaign."

Axelrod went on to say he believes the nomination contest is coming to a close.

“This isn't ‘American Idol,’ OK?” he said. “This is a nominating process. We have rules. We elect delegates state by state. Sen. Obama has built a lead over these six-- over these five months. And we expect on June 3 that this process will come to an end.”

1. Clearly that's off the table, at this point, due to the predictable consequences...
of what The Vulture said.

10. Can you ever imagine HRC saying "Let's move on" while Obama was being lambasted by the press?
That would never happen.
Obama is one quality individual, if you ask me.

So, go ahead - ask me!:woohoo:

7. And not bad reversy pshchology
I mean the best way to get the press to remain stuck on an issue is to tell them it is no big deal and we should move on.

Maybe Axelrod is becoming a zen master.

3. I don't blame them for not wanting to dwell on it.
Obama is very close to wrapping this up, and it was a stupid thing for Clinton to say. Why keep dredging it up so someone unbalanced actually tries it? Better to let it go. Obama is right, as usual.

4. Of course thaqt's the thing to say
Kill it by Wednesday. The people(and Obama!) really don't need the phrase "assassinate Obama" floating around for any reason.

6. Oh well, you can't win them all. I would've preferred that he destroy Clinton with this.
But Obama is a better man than I.

13. I had hoped he would have used it to destroy her too
Another example of why I wouldn't make a good politician.

Oh wait, if Barrack would have said it, Hillary would hace crucified him. I guess he is a better politician than her too. Then again, most of us knew that already.
