Obama should be prepping for Jindl in the GE not McCain. |
|
The GOP knows it will need a new player and knows how to micro target voting blocks.
How do think this would play out?

12. No problems in terms of the Constitution, I just don't believe that the Republicans would.... |
|
go with someone with that small amount of experience and that degree of youth. The other big egos in the party couldn't live with it. I do agree though about the possibility of someone else getting the nomination. If McCain tanks before the R convention, it will be a free for all.
I do believe that Jindal is someone to watch for the future, maybe 2012,2016

8. Jindal is the 2012 or 2016 backup plan |
|
No way do they trot him out for a race that he's not ready to run.
They're saving him. If the atmosphere is right, he runs in 2012. Otherwise, he's their choice in 2016.

9. R's would have an average age of 54 |
|
It would get some press that he is young and energetic, and McCain is old and experienced. But logically, these don't average out. Instead, you have two people who shouldn't be president, for different reasons.
From what I have read, Jindal is a smooth operator. He does represent diversity of a sort in the Republican party. If the campaign is about identity politics rather than about the future of the country, he could confuse things a bit - youthful, ethnic. But like McCain, he is (probably just for show) either a kool-aid drinker or a kool-aid salesman. Pushes teaching of intelligent design. Free market for everything.
But I look forward to Obama running on the future of the country not on superficiality.

10. In a manner of speaking, Jindal washed to shore with Katrina. |
|
When the Bush administration wasn't overtly neglecting U.S. citizens in need of support and rescue along the Gulf Coast, it was blaming Democrats as the exclusive source of the response delay.
Jindal is the political detritus left on the beach after the storm cleared.

19. I don't think Jindal is ready for prime time. I consider him detritus, a |
|
wholly marginal accident of political misfortune.
How does Jindal rally the Puke base? Could he even carry Louisiana against Obama?
McCain is likely to hold on. Should his health take him off the campaign trail, they'd opt for surrogates if the condition was treatable and tentative, then he'd be back in the ballgame by autumn, even if they have to haul him onto the convention stage in Minneapolis in a gurney and a portable IV.

he is going to have to be able and raise money. McCain has proven a disaster in raising money and they know that without big bucks coming in they are going to look stupid not simply lose.

McSame will pick someone with fundie cred, IMO, in order to shore up support. Obama would do well to select a VP with strong foreign policy/military cred - b/c that's where McSame is likely to attack him, other than the wedge issues.

a tackling dummy, a practice candidate.
Why does the media keep referring to him as the presumptive nominee??
Because the repubs ain't had THEIR convention, either.
I wonder what happens if they get to their convention and Mc says "I'm sick, Can't do it...Choose someone else, someone the dems have no time to ramp up against.....
Call me paranoid, but these are the same jerks who stole one, if not TWO elections and smiled while doing it.

23. Well I don't know about the flip flop voters but I don't think this will |
|
sway blacks to the umm "darkside" I also don't believe they will pick him for the spot. He is young but he is too young, you can't attack Obama on experience, and then pick someone who is barely old enough to hold the office of POTUS.
Obama could counter his pick with Joe Biden, and completely cancel out Jindl.
Not to Give the GOP advice, but they should pick some that is similar to whomever Obama picks, then it keeps McSames weakness at the same, which is well below the bar of electability in my opinion!

30. Picking Jindal will totally screw the GOP this year |
|
We all know that they will attack Obama on youth, experience and ethnic background. Making Jindal the running mate will throw all that out the window.
Romney adds nothing. He's an empty suit. I can't see him making that big a difference in Michigan, and most certainly not in Massachusetts. Fundies and hardcore wingnuts don't like him.
I'm guessing Tim Pawlenty, since they're so gung-ho about winning Minnesota (not sure he'd help, though as his record as governor has been mediocre - the I-35W bridge collapse is his Achilles heel). A dark horse would be a congressman such as Paul Ryan from Wisconsin. He's 38, is in his 5th term, and the hardcore fiscal conservatives love him, especially Novak. Has been in the news lately due in part to his economic policy "Road Map." And Wisconsin, though a hardcore Obama state, is a place they'd love to finally win.
