6. They sure buried it well |
|
I thought the Hillary comment was a gaffe, but it stopped short of directly suggesting harm be done to Obama. That was not the case with Trotta's comment. She was wishing him dead.
To "cover the bases" without stirring up more controversy, Fox News had her on again, to talk about the exact same crap, with a the Hillary comments issue as a tagline at the bottom of the screen. After three minutes of redundant drivel, they slipped her apology in at the end.
Any normal news apology is its own segment, with its own subject header at the bottom of the screen -- not some dumb afterthought at the end of a rehashed issue. Look at how any other news agency has handled the same sort of issue. And *this* topic in particular merited exactly that.
What an ugly whitewashing that was.

8. The update says the apology was "abject." |
|
I certainly don't see that. As long as she is still given her seat in front of the camera, there's nothing abject about it.

word I use all the time or ever but, hey, I learned a new word.
One meaning was "humble". :)

9. "It was a lame attempt at HUMOR." WTF? Since when and WHY is it all of a sudden FUNNY to make |
|
fun of assassination, death and guns aimed at a candidate? Just since Obama started running/winning? Huckabee, Hillary, Trotta.. who's next?
I can't believe they'd have her ON again. This is so fucked up.

10. Her apology was sickeningly insincere, BUT... |
|
Edited on Mon May-26-08 04:28 PM by DangerousRhythm
at least she said it directly, to her credit. It wasn't one of those lame "I'm sorry if you were offended" apologies. Didn't really help or make me less angry, but hey.
Still... this can't be buried. There needs to be SOME consequence, protest, SOMETHING to let the MSM know this is completely unacceptable as "humor".

18. It's just really stupid to joke about |
|
"assassination" at any time but during a Presidential Primary when there was a Democratic President assassinated and his brother was running in a Dem Primary and assassinated in JUNE as we all know(hilary made sure of that).
How damn insensitive do you have to be?

|
Edited on Mon May-26-08 06:05 PM by FlyingSquirrel
That was the fakiest apology I have ever seen and the fact that the original statement came out of her mouth speaks volumes. And just before the "apology" at 2:38 where they bring up the comment "We have seen an x-ray of a very dark soul" - that applies to Liz Trotta much more than Hillary Clinton.
Apology not accepted.
